It's not the hire in and of itself that was bad. It was the guaranteed money that made it one of the worst all around hiring jobs of all time. I can understand the idea behind bringing in a guy who had burned out at his previous stop, but had shown the ability to put together an impressive recruiting machine and hoping he could do the same for a talent-rich state like Texas. However, the warning signs were there as to his limitations, so locking yourself into $75 million guaranteed is mind-blowingly stupid.
While not as expensive, Manny Diaz is looking to be an absolutely awful hire by Miami. However, literally nobody should be shocked. Miami did pay Temple 4M to get this guy lmbo. So relative to what they can afford, this is pretty bad. They’re taste in Temple coaches appears to be off the mark as well. Golden and now Diaz. Missed the boat on Geoff Collins (just beat them) and Matt Rhule (Baylor undefeated).
It probably wont go down as the worst hire by the aggys all time Currently its probably their worst, or close to it But I have no doubt the aggys will double down next time and continue to top themselves in the future, they always do
Is it ok to point out that at the same point in the seasons FSU has a better record now than Jimbo did in 2017 when he left. (6-5; 5-6)?
watch freshman mond compared to now. I still think he sucks but there’s no doubt he’s learned a lot under jimbo.
If you guys could ever get a 5 star dual-threat stud with a big arm on campus there would be no stopping you
7-5 this year and 0-5 in games that matter. 8-4 last year with one big win. They could have just kept Sumlin (and about $3-4 million a year).
The recruiting alone might be worth it. Although I remember those pretty numbers also being associated with this
In 10 years hes beaten a team with equal or more talent a grand total of once coincidentally they will play again saturday
He got us into a few places in Florida from a recruiting standpoint that I'll always be thankful for. As for him being the OC, I think I had hopes he would keep the car between the lines. I was already done with Chaney so I was prepared to spin anything. It's also hard to gauge the issues we had offensively, but I think the Fromm/Coley combo was a disaster.
