Not sounding like it. Most rumors around here in Mississippi is he’s out. People are saying Napier or Chizik (lol) to replace him.
yeah. You would know better than me. but doesn’t seem right to me as a distant person looking in?. I’m all for the new trend for letting people go earlier thanwasting time on a dead man, but I got to wonder if miss state is spoiled from dak and Mullen to remember that’s most likely an outlier and not an indication of who you really are.
It’s not so much his performance as he just absolutely doesn’t fit in down here in Mississippi. He’s lost boosters and a support. There’s kind of a good ole boy network here and he just doesn’t jive with it.
Are you saying that they over performed last year? Because it's the exact opposite and State fans came into the season angry at him for last year
I’m saying how does Mississippi state fire a coach that goes 8-5. People were questioning whether Willie should’ve been fired from FSU and he could only get 5. I’d have thought 8 wins is sufficient at a school like Miss State. I recognize that’s a tad simplistic, but I’d still think that means something.
I was excited as anyone for the hire but he lost most of the fan base. Supposed to be an offensive guru and it’s been ugly, no team discipline, penalties like crazy, unprepared, etc. He hasn’t been developing the players and the vast majority have regressed. I’m not for anyone losing their job but something needs to change. Any average offense last year and we win 10 games with that defense.
One of my biggest complaints has been our S&C program under him. With Mullen it was hardcore with weights and nutrition. Under Joe I’ve heard it’s been some of the softest workouts and practices. It was like he was trying to be friends with the players instead of the coach. Our guys used to look ripped and fast. Not they’re slow and gassed in the 2nd half. I guarantee ole miss pulls away now.
This is McElwain to a T. Our players were working out at a local gym off campus because the strength coach was so incompetent.
They had more first-rounders on their defense last year than the program ever had previously. Insane talent to go an ugly 8-5.
I think a lot of frustration is because state felt they could finally step on Ole Miss throat with them being in pronation and cement themselves as the top program in the state and Moorehead failed to do that.
