Recs on a range finder? I need to get 2 as gifts. Middle of the road, nothing too fancy/expensive. TIA.
NLU just started a sponsorship with Precision Pro and has a promo code I think. My friend I play with all the time has this one and it works great. Always gets the same number within a yard or two of my Nikon and his has slope which mine doesn't
A club by me has free snacks and full open bar at multiple spots around the course. Their dues are $3500/mo though.
Is it a golf club community and that includes HOA and property taxes? $3500 per month is absolutely outrageous.
Nope. Just golf dues, on top of an initiation of a couple hundred thousand and you have to own a lot or house. The cheapest house in there is probably 2 million. Its called the Madison club. Theres also 5-6 other high end clubs in the area that have dues over $2000/month but Madison is the most expensive.
I was about to say - there’s only like a handful of clubs in the whole country that get away with that. Madison is one of em.
That place is supposed to be amazing. The course I’m talking about is Silverleaf. No idea what the dues are. Definitely on the higher end of the spectrum.
Golf around NYC is a lot different. Our initiation fees are super high, but the elite clubs generate so much from Monday outings that they actually subsidize dues to some degree. It’s rare to see more than $1,500 per month, even at elite clubs with all sorts of amenities. The one hosting the Open next year is less than $1k per month for family. The initiation is a bit different.
It’s a whole family membership too. I know someone who bought land and was going to build a house but ended up just flipping the land because the costs got a little high for what he wanted to spend. One of the attractive things he said about the Madison club was his sons (30s) would have full access.
Isn’t that the club Jon Rahm and Max Homa belong to? Think someone posted a video in here a while back of someone playing a round there with Rahm and the owner of the place. The owner seemed like a massive douche
I'm sure the elite clubs are very difficult to get into though, and you really have to know people and be of the right ilk to get in. Here, if you have the money you can pretty much get in anywhere. LA area is more like the northeast in their exclusivity.
Yup, I’ve been basically dating 60 yr old men trying to go through the process for one club here over the past year. Fun times.
My parents were members of the Hideaway for a while which is right next to Madison and same owners. I had full access there but it phased out once you were 31 or if you got married. Still was a nice perk to be able to go over there whenever I wanted.
In terms of dues structure, Cypress Point probably has my favorite (that I’ve heard of). They don’t have any set dues. Instead they just look at their balance sheet at the end of the year, figure out all needed operating costs to be financially stable while upholding non-profit status, take that number and divide it by the number of members, then just bill everyone that.
TecTecTec Laser Golf Rangefinder VPRO500S Slope with Battery I’ve had this one for a few years now and it works well. Can’t beat $180 for a rangefinder with slope.
He needs to try a little harder https://www.golf.com/news/features/2019/12/03/bryson-dechambeau-massive-workout-routine/
Any thoughts on the new CBS broadcast team. Biggest changes in Nobilo (Kostis replacement) is a full-time announcer and Dottie Pepper is the lead on-course reporter. Davis Love III and Trevor Immelman will get moved up behind Faldo and Nobilo. And Michelle Wie is joining, too. I like Nobilo a lot, but the remainder is a whole lot of meh.
I thought Wie was only in for Masters stuff. She was great during Solheim Cup so I don't mind having her join while she's on the shelf (if she ever plays again)
I've had the Japan Skins Challenge on my DVR ever since it happened because I was out of town at the time. This was some rough watching early on but enjoyed the audible "shit" from Tiger as he blew a birdie putt 10 feet past on the third. This 'needling' is brutal and Rich Lerner pointing out every time they say anything is annoying as hell
I'm starting to lean towards Shotgun Start as my favorite golf podcast. Fried Egg is a bit too nerdy for me most of the time, but he is an enjoyable listen just talking current events.
the best storyline for 2020 would be Bryson and Brooks trying to one-up each other in mass and ending up looking like the Steiner Brothers by the end of the season
I like shotgun start too. I do fucking hate how Andy sounds surprised af every opening when Brendan introduces him.
He says he was further back from the ball and the camera angle is to blame. He claims he didn't improve his lie.
you guys, I'm excited. While adding random golf stuff to my amazon wish list for christmas I came across a pair of golf flip flops that I've been wanting for like 10 years ish. couldn't purchase it quick enough.
