Suerte to me is like "Have you met our lord and savior, Masa??" Launderette Red Ash is one of my favorite restaurants in town Comedor Lambert's Emmer and Rye
Since Uncle Billy's closed to relocate Barton Springs is DEAD. Kinda depressing but I'm sure somebody will come up with something for that spot and the cursed Java spot before spring/summer.
It's just a pain in the dick to get reservations. I make them like 4-5 weeks out and then cancel if I'm not going to use them. I can always post in this thread if people want them there or uchi or wherever before I delete them.
hit launderette when i was in town last, going to make one as backup. Comedor looks legit. Not huge on fine dining Italian or italian steakhouse type joints, think just because I have incredible access like two blocks from where I live I skip it on trips.
Odd duck is next door to my place. I'll probably just walk the husky in my avatar around the restaurant until you acknowledge us. After odd duck - go next door to Gibson bar. Real good vibe during christmas definitely a non-uppity late 20s-30s crowd with a great drink selection. Or take everyone to High Ball if it's a friday or saturday night (about 200 yards away in a real nice strip - they always have something fun and also nice cocktails. Their burlesque shows are always packed (and not trashy they're more soft R rated) with the most diverse crowds that makes it really fun. Since you'll be in town this time of year I recommend Miracle on 5th street also for a christmasy fun drinking spot with good drinks. gotta check the FB page for private events though. Considering the current suggestions on casual dinner spots... I'd throw Sway into the mix. Uroko is a new omokase place that requires a small deposit but not too pricey. Step up from that would be Otoko which I think is the best small plates in town.
I haven’t but it’s a half mile from my office just past Eanes. Haven’t checked in a while but they weren’t serving lunch there at first which is when I would go. I guess if they opened at 4-5 I’d stop in for HH and a bite on my way home though.
What I assume was cedar has given me sinus congestion on and off for years got a navage machine last week and ho. lee. shiitake does that thing work, can’t remember feeling this comfortable for such a long period of time
Flying in to Austin on Sunday for the week anything going on? Also I want to watch 1917 on the biggest beat screen in the area? Recommendations? I saw the AMC Barton is showing it in Dolby Cinema? We don’t have that in TN because it’s a state for poors. How does that compare with IMAX? Also any food recs. Thanks!
Red Ash, Franklins or La BBQ if you don't want to wait, Ramen Tatsuya (go to one on eastside so you can hit up Domo Alley gato and get a beer frosty) Torchys, Comedor, Clarks, Swedish Hill Bakery, Lin
Never in my life have I heard of someone looking for movie theater suggestions for while they are in town (any town) but this is the correct answer
Man. I like cinema. And when a film I’ve waited a long time to see comes out, I want to find the best place to see it when I’m there. Do you think they’ll be showing it? I checked and right now they just show Star Wars and a laundry list of other IMAX only features.
Until yesterday, I had been fine taking a daily Zyrtec. Bought some Flonase this morning and it seems to be doing the trick. Never had allergies before moving here.
your alls town continues to be a place I could easily live, especially the weather Veracruz continues A+. Went to the one in South Austin. Via 313 continues A+. Went to the one at Craft Pride which is a nice set up, killer beer list. Franklin was also fantastic. Line wasn't long but we did pick up and went to a brewery nearby that allowed outside food. The pies were insanely good too, ate them the next few days. Kemuri Tatsuya happy hour also recommend. Place would be steep $$$ non happy hour though. Little Brother Coffee legit, also had a spicy political sign out front even for Austin.
Going to a bachelor party there the last weekend of SXSW 3/19-22. Don’t think we are wanting to do anything with the festival so terrible timing. Are we screwed on going out/watching March Madness or will there be decent bars that don’t participate? Any tips to avoid the crowds is appreciated.
Came down to Rainey. Apparently Trump is at the Convention Center today. Healthy amount of Fuck Trump out here
in 'cool story bro' news, a good friend of mine is the head desk manager at the independent (not sure what his exact title is, but he basically kind of runs the staff/building) anyway he took us around yesterday and we got the vip tour and got to play in one of the unsold units up on the 57th floor that is selling for $3 million right now I guess I havent been downtown much the last couple of years, I barely recognized it down there.
