Why aren't more people talking about this show? It's probably in my top 10. Basic premise is it's almost like an anthology show - Each episode focuses on a different story (or two) of people in New York who buy pot from the same guy. The guy doesn't have even have a name, he's always just referred to as "the guy." You gradually get to know more about him and his life is interesting but it's not the central purpose of the show. The show is more of an insight into the day to day lives of different types of people in the city. It's incredibly well written - funny, heartwarming, gut wrenching, diverse, and just all around entertaining. I didn't watch it for a long time because I figured it was just a typical stoner humor show but it's really good. I just caught up as of last night and I'm disappointed I don't have any more episodes to watch.
I watched the first season and really enjoyed it. need to get into the rest. there are so many shows out there that this kind of falls by the wayside
I like that it’s under a half hour, so much easier to commit to watching a one off episode. Most (good) shows these days are 40 minutes - an hour
I posted about this show in another thread a while back (The show has a pretty active subreddit. It's definitely one of my favorite series from this decade. I've actually found myself rewatching old episodes from season 1 & 2 lately. Ben Sinclair & Katja Blichfeld are extremely talented. Also, the soundtrack for this show is phenomenal.
Probably conflating him with his character way too much, but I feel like Ben is the nicest guy in the world. I aspire to be like him
He's like a very go with the flow kind of dude. Especially from his instagram streams. I want to know when HM will be renewed for a fourth season.
I'm with you on this one - HM has been a favorite of mine since I stumbled across it as a web series on Vimeo. Such an underrated show imo.
I started watching it yesterday because of this thread. I don’t love it but can’t stop watching either. Some gross, graphic nudity tho.
The first episode isn’t for everyone (I know the graphic gay sex freaks ppl out). But I did think it was a solid pilot for the series. Also, it connects to the previous web series.
It wasn't just the excessive man-on-man action. Everything after the scene with the two "scary" black guys both bored and annoyed me.
The barber and the two black dudes was the best thing about that episode comedy wise. The situation between the gay dude and her roommate gave me secondhand anxiety.
https://www.vulture.com/2019/03/high-maintenance-the-guy-appreciation.html I love this article. Even though some of the HM stories are downright depressing, The Guy's attitude always leaves me feeling good after watching
They do a really good job portraying human emotion. Ie went the old hippy guy died. Wasn't a fan of the most recent Rosie Perez episode though the post credits was really weird.
I’d like to have seen the nanny naked. I had to look at about 20 dicks during this, they could have given me the nanny.
i started watching this show last weekend and it's really fantastic. not anything what i expected - i thought it'd be a stoner comedy so i wasn't giving it much of a chance - but it's really special. but it's heavy so i can't straight binge it.
I took it as they got the doll as a coping mechanism for a death of their own baby. At the end of their story arc she asked the husband if she thought they (doll and baby name) would get along.
Just wrapped up season 4 - they are so good at telling stories of underrepresented groups, show is funny and educational at the same time. Brings the feels on sometimes too
Honestly wish we got more stories with The Guy this season. Enjoyed his arc with his gf last season and the Australian girl.
