I’m sorry I should have been more clear but I don’t follow the campaigning wrt the UK. If this is a result of a misinformation initiative then we all either need to settle in or strap up wrt the future of this world. It’s just gonna be Trump/Johnson types for the west from here out
so first rumblings are Scotland will likely have a referendum in response on whether to split from the UK, almost assuredly passing
I mean it’s been like this since idk my entire lifetime, it’s just getting worse and the consequences are more dire.
Reminder that literally nothing can go wrong when Britain tries to force a country to stay under it's control when they don't want to.
Labour is under investigation from the Equalities and Human Rights Commission which was founded by Labour. Only the second political party in the UK to be formally under investigation for institutional racism, the other was the openly fascist BNP. If you're actually interested in educating yourself rather than spouting uniformed stupidity, you can read the Jewish Labour Voice's submission to the EHRC.
Not disputing that, but it was said that the Scottish referendum was a "once in a generation opportunity." I think the circumstances changed so much following Brexit that it only makes sense for them to get another shot. I don't think it happens though.
No doubt, they lied throughout the campaign. Boris Johnson is a certified liar as anyone he's ever worked for testifies to all the time. His poll ratings personally were actually quite bad. He won this though because Corbyn's personal ratings are historically bad.
Maybe partly, moreso in that he spent a career championing the IRA, has tolerated anti-Semitism in his party, and refused to take a position on the biggest issue the country has faced in years. The guy is just a horrible party leader. Even the New Statesman, one of the more left-wing publications in the UK refused to endorse Labour for one of the very few times in its history.
RE Labour and antisemitism. There absolutely is a history of antisemitism in the Labour party. IIIRC they've had around 300 members forced to resign over it. That sounds like a lot of people, because it is. However it also accounts for a small fraction of the party. It's not a made up narrative. What @Z has posted is pretty accurate. That said - The narrative that antisemitism is solely a Labour issue is laughable. Conservative and Lib-Dem parties have swept the same behavior under the rug while pointing fingers at the Labour party. Once again, one sided propaganda has won the day. All these things can be true. We all know why Brits would be best served by the Labour Party. At the same time, that party has it's warts, as does Corbyn.
I just guessed at the number. But yeah, it's great. Table setting is over, time to get to the juicy stuff.
two people I genuinely trust on this issue largely say the same thing (one being Adam Serwer), who are not predisposed to the barbs being thrown at Labour theres just a reflex due to how it's done in the US recently with the right wing, the literal anti semite party, projects it on the left to think its the same abroad. it isn't.
If you're a leftist in Britian why would you ever vote again. It's clear that it's a waste of time and doesn't work. That country is fucked and they deserve everything bad that's about to happen to them.
It could definitely change some, but one thing to remember is that some are projected as Labour holds/gains that are too close to call.
I mean imagine voting to privatize your healthcare. Thousands of people are about to die because of this. Unfuckingreal
We've still got an election in 2020 so I wouldn't say that just yet. I still say electing Trump is far stupider than anything the Brits have done.
Like it's insane how stupid humans are. How the fuck do you just voluntarily give up your healthcare????
I’m fully expecting us to re-elect trump, but they trust the Tories more than Labour on handling the NHS in a post-Brexit world. Shit...people would probably trust Trump over Bernie to expand healthcare so what do I know.
Ur intelligent, you can't help ur surrounded by morons that should be probably be shot into the sun for the good of the rest of the world.
In a few years she can pay $300 for drugs that used to cost $20 so at least she has that going for her. Condolences, btw
Long term we were considering moving back to England to escape dystopian America but now we're looking at Germany or maybe Ireland. Or Scotland if they jump ship
