Repost so the info is on the new page: So despite everyone’s better judgement, this is happening tonight. Good card overall, and we’ll see what dumb shit happens in the main event. DAZN, 9:00 pm ET, Daniel Jacobs vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, Julio Cesar Martinez vs Cristofer Rosales, Maurice Hooker vs Uriel Perez, Daniyar Yeleussinov vs Alan Sanchez. Tonight streaming live on DAZN, Daniel Jacobs returns to action against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in a fight that was probably a lot more trouble to make than it’s going to turn out having been worth. Without going into a ton of detail you likely already know, Jacobs-Chavez was originally targeted for Vegas, but Nevada suspended Chavez for evading VADA tests, so the fight was moved to Phoenix. There was a question of it actually happening until this week, when a Nevada judge ruled it could go ahead, basically. Then Chavez couldn’t make weight on Thursday, so they changed the limit from 168 to 173 at the last minute. The show will also feature Julio Cesar Martinez facing Cristofer Rosales for the vacant WBC flyweight title, plus Maurice Hooker in a 144-pound catchweight bout against Uriel Perez, and more.
Rosales gonna be pissing blood for a week after all these body shots. Feels like Martinez ends it here in the 8th.
I was behind and I can’t believe this fool quit again. I told my wife Jacobs was a great guy and the end of the fight him being gracious was proof. My wife is throwing stuff at my tv.
Despite the best efforts of last night, this sport continues on with a quality main event. FOX, 8:00 pm ET, Tony Harrison vs Jermell Charlo 2, Efe Ajagba vs Iago Kiladze. Harrison-Charlo 2 is a big rematch for both, about a year after the first fight. Harrison hasn’t fought since, postponing the rematch with an injury, and Charlo fought Jorge Cota in June instead, smashing Cota in three. Charlo feels he was robbed last year (most people do), and he’s looking to get what he sees as his WBC 154-pound title back. Ajagba is a hard-hitting heavyweight prospect you want to see. Harrison, 29, took that 154-pound belt on Dec. 22, 2018, winning a stunning and criticized decision over Charlo, also 29. The two were supposed to rematch on June 23 in Las Vegas, but Harrison pulled out with an injury, which Charlo believes was faked. Harrison hasn’t fought since last year’s win, and Charlo beat Jorge Cota on that June 23 date instead. The co-feature will see heavyweight prospect Efe Ajagba take on Iago Kiladze, while lightweight prospect Karlos Balderas opens the show against Rene Tellez Giron.
Legit insane. Kiladze out on his feet, Efe thinks he's going down and steps back, ref doesn't step in, and Kiladze lands a right hand bomb for a knockdown.
I am behind but so IDK what happens but the ref is stupid for letting the fight continue after that knock down. Balderes was out.
That stoppage seemed weird after he let it go earlier. Seemed like Balderes was trying to time it to get the most rest. IDK what the ref was doing in that fight. About to start the co-main event so sorry if I am repeating stuff already discussed.
Spence says he's coming back in May or June. I dunno. Face still looks swollen, speech is slurred a bit.
Yeah, that would've been fine. Those were massive shots on the 2nd KD. Once Reiss let it go though, should've given it more time. All those shots were being blocked.
Tank Davis nearly a pound and a half over the 135 limit for his fight against Yuriorkis Gamboa tomorrow, smh.
