He also played five games last season with a messed up throwing shoulder that needed surgery .

Average is better than “not good at all”, no?

from 14-17 LSU averaged about 180 passing yards per game. Almost the worst in P5. They have had a shit offense for a long time.

    Y'all Stan so damn hard.

He wasn't good. There are many factors to it, but that's the fact. He was elite ths year.

    It's OK

LSU was always a QB away from being really good. Burrow wasn't great last year, but it showed there was potential.

I'm really curious to see what happens to LSU next year, once he's gone.

He wasn't good in 2018. It seems like that was probably more on the OC than him but the fact remains that he wasn't good in 2018.

He's really a great case of player and coaching needing to mesh and why it's so important for kids to pick the right spot for themselves. Burrow didn't but got lucky with the change. If LSU hadn't made the change, Burrow wouldn't be lined up to be a top 10 pick. Burrow may have always been this good but nobody would have known if he still played with one hand tied behind his back under their old system.

I tend to believe LSU was the right OC/offensive philosophy change from being a crazy good offense. The QB's that LSU recruited over the last decade were wanted by other SEC schools as well. They just never progressed under Miles's tenure here.

As far as next season goes, LSU will lose Burrow, Damien Lewis & Andree Magee. I also expect CEH & Justin Jefferson to go pro. Currently, the talk D'Eriq King talk is heating up (Granted Arkansas's recent hire of Briles as OC makes them a decent landing spot too). I'm a bit skeptical of Brennan. He has a massive arm. But that doesn't mean the transition from Burrow to Brennan will be flawless.

It's truly a mixed bag emotionally for me. I would like to see LSU develop a QB under Brady/Ensminger. But I'm also not against us taking the best transfer prospect avaliable.

Burrow was awesome in the A&M game and the Fiesta Bowl last year, which really created a recency bias about the rest of his year. He went 15/30 for 0 TD's against Georgia and 15/35 for 1 TD against Auburn in their two biggest wins. He was flat out abysmal in their losses to Florida and Alabama. He had 9 passing TD's before the A&M game.

Not good at all is pretty much the definition of average. I love Burrow, not being hater, but he was average last year.

Growing up in the '80's and '90's as an LSU and Saints fan I couldn't even fathom either of them winning a championship, much less having seen the success they've both had in my adulthood. Even with all of the great players I've seen on both teams in the past 20 years, I still can't believe that a guy this transcendent played for us. It's the type of thing that happens to fans of other teams.

I think just living of one part of your income and setting the other part apart is such a solid move for someone probably not familiar to that type of money. It was so weird to me seeing a guy like Donte Deayon driving the car he did. He had like 1.3mln in career earnings so far so that car was a big part of it. If he could just save up most of that he could probably go pretty far on his career earnings after he is done after a year or 2 from now, now he will be looking for a coaching role (or something like that) straight after his career

A lot of players get the fancy car before they even sign the contract. Because their agent encourages it and offers to loan them money

I was thinking that it’s kinda dumb to let that money just sit in your bank account. At least put some of it in stocks, ETFs, etc.

Then I did the math. His signing bonus was $23.8m. Assume he takes home around 55% of that, at 1% interest that’s $131,340 per year earned just sitting there. And that’s before you start to include his NFL annual salary.

Fuck. I chose the wrong profession.

A buddy of mine worked for a company early on when it was getting started to the point it finally went public around 15 years later. During the time he had stockpiled a pretty good chunk of stock.

After they went public he cashed out with about $1.4-$1.6 million or so. I never asked for specifics. About a year later he had invested it all into some fairly safe investments and moved to Southern Cal. He has a modest condo and basically retired. The original 1.4 mil kicks off about 100k a year in income which he lives off. He plays golf every other day and surfs a ton. Usually ends up playing video games most afternoons.

The guy is in his late 40s. If you have a decent amount to start you can live comfortably just off the income and never really touch the principal.
