That wasn’t a fun game. Wonder if Klopp rotates or just red lines it through Sheffield then plays a reserve team against Everton
Agree. Trent and Robbo need a game off badly even though they are both continuing to play well. I am assuming we play the XI against Sheffield and then get heavy rotation against Everton in the FA cup before United. We’re so close to escaping the gauntlet in tact. If we rotate and still beat Everton, I have a feeling we might get a favorable fixture or two to progress and maybe put fresh eyes on its priority in March.
Yup, just red line it through these games then take the FA Cup off and get ready for that really tough run of 3 games (@Spurs, United, @Wolves). Hopefully Fabinho and Matip are back by United then after a congested run of games everyone gets 2 weeks off for the winter break. Can't remember where I saw it, but I read that we've actually run a lot less this year than in previous years. That our pressing is way, way down when we have the lead compared to previous seasons. Has lead to some butthole clenching games, but hopefully it pays off with these guys being fresh and able to play more games.
One of the guys on the Blood Red pod suggested rotating for Sheffield United then going strong against Everton too keep the streak going against Everton. I was like naw. If Everton want to brag about beating our under 23s the year we walk the league let them.
We played a heavily full rotated team a few weeks ago and destroyed them. That team included Lovren, Origi, Lallana, Shaqiri, and Milner. We should run something out there like Adrian RB?-Gomez-Phillips-Milner Gini-Keita-Jones Minamino-Origi-Lallana Would be nice if Matip could make it back for this one but since we haven't even heard if he's training yet I supposed it will still be a few weeks.
You can expect Ancelotti to go full tilt as new manager and needing a foothold with the fans. He’s also the only manager in the world who has had our number in the past 24 months. I agree play the backups and fill in with the u23s. Last thing we need is a couple knocks to key players from an overly aggressive Everton team looking to prove a point.
