His comments on it were pretty testy: “I don’t think I need rest,” Seabrook said. “I think I feel great. I’m 34, you guys seem to want to write articles about my age and my speed. I feel like I still got a lot to offer in this league and still be a good player for somebody. I’m just going to try and do my thing out here … try to work hard and get back in the lineup when I can, if I can and just try and be a good teammate.” https://nhl.nbcsports.com/2019/10/29/blackhawks-seabrook-at-a-crossroads/
Curious how long they give Jeremy before moving on. This team playing dump and chase isn’t working. They have stripped the offense away to help the defense and all that it’s resulted in is poor offense and terrible defense
He’s young but going to be fantastic. Hawks have some young studs on this roster. No reason to be this bad. Well there is but...
So the Hawks playoffs chances were at 18%. We then made the change back to zone defense that led to more puck possession vs dump and chase. Our play has improved. The odds for us to make to playoffs now stand at 57% with our win tonight.
Team looks great besides a few bad turnovers (like on that goal just now) Kane with goals in 6 straight and 7 goals and 8 assists in the last 8 games
De Haan is having a terrible 3rd period. He gave up that turnover on the goal and just had another that led to a high danger chance. Outside of that... yes this team is playing night and day different.
Yeah, he's been hit or miss the last few games. I don't think this team goes very far unless they acquire a defenseman or two
It will be interesting to see what they ultimately do... I agree that they could use some help and they need a top 4 defenseman. Its long been a issue What this do with Gustafsson is also a big question mark. He's starting to play better but I don't believe he figures into the long term plans.
He's having a down year but statistically we are much better on the PP when he's on the ice vs keith. But I agree might have missed the window to really collect on his play. Its pretty odd he didn't unload given we have a better version with Boqvist
Sure seems like the Hawks are looking at a top 5 pick again this year. They need to trade anything of value (Saad, Shaw, Gus, Lehner, Matta (questionable value)) and then fire everyone in April. Teams needs a fresh start and its going to be a few years before the Hawks are any good.
I agree, kinda want them to bring up these young defenseman and see what they have. Develop on the big club. I would also trade Saad. Get what you can. He’s actually playing good hockey even if the goals aren’t there.
https://chicago.suntimes.com/platfo...ey-crawford-duncan-keith-connor-murphy-maatta Looking at these grades you'd think the Hawks were at least a wild card
Ughh... That article is not really giving the full picture. Keith has been hurt and missed a few weeks Murphy has been hurt and missed a few weeks Gustafsson and Maatta have been largely garbage and played all year. Boqvist and Gilbert have been in the minors most of the season. De Haan was pretty good when healthy and Seabrook was garbage So four of our top 6 defenseman would be C+ or worse. That is the reason why we aren't speaking about the playoffs and more of a sell off. Bowman needs to trade Saad, Crawford. I think you could get a 1st for Crawford. Saad a 2nd and maybe 3rd or some prospect. I would then take on some expiring bad contract along with either a pick or prospect with the 12.8m we have open. Blackhawks have like a 12% chance to make the playoffs and that was before the injury news. Season is over.
I think the Hawks would love to keep Lehner long term. He's 28 and proven to be a top line goalie. Its not just the system he played in NY. Question is could the Blackhawks pull off what the Yankees did with Chapman. Trade Lehner for a big return and then ink him in the offseason? That would be the perfect scenario. Having 9+m tied up in the net when you have so many freaking holes on the roster is a bad idea moving forward. I would trade both Lehner and Crawford because I believe both would get us a great package of players or picks.
I think they'd be lucky to get a third for him. He's 34 years old and has a 3.20 GAA this year and hasn't looked good doing it
His save% was in the .910 - .920 range before this recent run where we went back to letting our goalies face 15+ high danger chances a game.
Ben Bishop was one of the more highly-rated backups a few years ago and he only went for a fourth rounder. Just don't see it for a 34 year old backup with an expiring $6m cap hit. Those are the kind of guys the Blackhawks will take a draft pick to take on the rest of the year. Only six teams have the space to take on that cap and of those only three (COL, NYI, ARI) are in contention. And they are more than happy with their goalie situation. The only team MAYBE is ARI if the injury to Kuemper is worse than thought, but I still don't even see a third from them I think Crawford stays this year and leaves for a ~$2m deal as a backup somewhere next year
This is a strong argument against my thinking and probably the correct evaluation. Bowman needs to bring back assets I hope he's shipped off
I'm not optimistic. I'm expecting something like "Michael Frolik comes back along with a 2020 second for a 2020 third rounder" and that's it
