while im attempting to perfect a list of my favorite games of the decade i figured i could get everyone to powt theirs. 10-19. you can just make a list, do a top whatever, or just randomly post awesome games.
I'll have to think a bit more to compile a top 10 but I'm pretty sure Horizon Zero Dawn is probably gonna be #1 for me.
1: Soulsbourne- You can pretty much start taking my list seriously after this. That being said, I found more enjoyment out of this series (outside of DS2) than anything done this past decade and I’ll just lump them together so I don’t take up multiple spots. The next 3 are interchangeable for me but they are certainly 2-3-4 on my list: The Last Of Us- From an emotional narrative standpoint there’s been few things ever that effected me like TLOU. Bioshock Infinite- Adam Levine could probably make a house painting simulator that I’d play till my eyes bled. Beautiful, art, characters, story and gameplay. God Of War- Just hits every note for me and just kept a smile on my face along with a sense of wonder that reminded me of seeing Star Wars or Goonies when I was a kid. Games that I spent the most time with: Borderlands 2 Destiny (series) Minecraft Call Of Duty Black Ops 2 There’s certainly more but the ones I listed are the most important for me. Outstanding decade for gaming.
I like shooters GTA V The Witcher 3 Borderlands 2 Skyrim Overwatch Gears of War 3 Mass effect 2 Fallout 3 COD Black ops 1 Minecraft Halo: Reach Destiny 1 Fortnite Apex Legends Rocket League Horizon Zero Dawn
Batman: Arkham City Splinter Cell: Blacklist BioShock Infinite Skyrim Mass Effect 2 Assassin's Creed Brotherhood Assassin's Creed Revelations GTA V have so many games I need to play
getting a PS4 remastered version of Splinter Cell: Blacklist would've been such a treat I was obsessed with that game on 360
Ori and the Blind Forest Destiny Fallout: New Vegas Hollow Knight Soulsbourne GTA 5 Horizon: Zero Dawn Super Mario Odyssey Farcry 5 Borderlands
Path of Exile The Division Age of Empires II: HD Edition Dota 2 CS:GO Starcraft II Hearthstone Escape from Tarkov Skyrim Borderlands II
No particular order Binding of Isaac: Rebirth Dead Cells Destiny Borderlands 2 Skyrim Slay the Spire Rocket League RDR 2 Final Fantasy XV Kingdom Hearts 3
Witcher 3 - I know gameplay is an issue for some but it was good enough for me considering the world and story are virtually unmatched. It's my favorite story in gaming. This is my game is the decade. Red Dead Redemption 2 - From just a pure technical level this game is incredible. I personally love the slow pace. Very immersive game. The Last of Us - Incredible story with solid gameplay. Loved how brutal the world was and the Joel and Ellie dynamic. Bioshock Infinite - another amazing story and the way it all tied together with the original Bioshock was really cool. Arkham City - the best of the Arkham games and the benchmark for all super hero games in my opinion. Red Dead Redemption - as a western fan this was the game I had waited my whole life for and it didn't let me down. Mass Effect 2 - the best of the ME trilogy and the height of Bioware (all down hill since unfortunately). Uncharted 4 - Probably won't be on a lot of people's lists but I'm a huge UC fan and thought it was a great finish to Drake's story. The visuals are still top tier. Battlefield 3 - my favorite shooter of the decade. So many great maps. Best of the series in my opinion. God of War - probably the best PS4 exclusive in my opinion. I didn't know I could care about Kratos the way this game made me. Stunning visuals. Marvel Heroes - Probably another weird one for most but I played a ton of this game. It started rough and went to hell in the end but there in the middle it was an incredible game. Fallout: New Vegas - the best of the series in my opinion. Loved the setting and made a lot of great gameplay improvements over FO3. Destiny - The game I've spent the most time playing on this list by far. I just keep coming back. Love the world and gameplay.
No order outside the top 6, and the only firm one is #1. 2-6 can be switched around given my mood. Also will be replaying The Witcher 3 soon on a lower difficulty. Not that it was hard by any means, but I want to completely experience the story without dealing with the combat much (my major complaint with the game, and the ultimate reason why I always get burnt out on it). I'm sure I'm forgetting so many games I could add to this. 1) Nier:Automata- Easily my favorite game of the decade, and realistically probably ever. Everything about it from start to finish was just incredible. Not sure I'll ever play a more perfect game than this. 2) God of War- Played it on Give Me God of War difficulty and currently stuck on the Trials but have beat everything else. Perfectly sized open world filled with meaningful things to do in a time where people think open worlds should be big just to be big. Amazing combat and story too. 3) Bloodborne- Mechanics, world, art style, enemies...just about everything in it is perfection. 4) The Last of Us- One of the most impactful games I've ever played. Not perfect gameplay, but the whole experience from the very first scene just grabs you and doesn't let go. 5)Persona 5- The twists and turns throughout this game keep you hooked, along with a world just full of things to do and some of the best turn based combat ever. Still need to go back and platinum this, but there's just so much to do. 6) Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch- Incredible art style and loved the combat. It's what pokemon games would be if Nintendo ever decided to bring that franchise out of the stone age. -Battlefield 4 -Borderlands 2 -Divinity Original Sin II -Fallout: New Vegas -Horizon Zero Dawn -Monster Hunter World -Outer Worlds -Red Dead Redemption 1 -Soulsborne stuff
Yeah it’s in Alpha on steam right now, 1.0 out in Q4. Ive watched a couple streams of it but don’t want to spoil too much for myself. Has a lot of story as well as replayability.
No order, but here are some I played and played a lot. Fallout 3 and New Vegas Super Mario 3D world and Super Mario Odyssey. I actually like 3D world better Mass Effect 1 and 2 Bio shock 1 and infinite Horizon Zero Down Own the Witcher 3 for years and have played for like 30 minutes. Really need to just commit
probably speaks more to my lack of diversity in games. I got an xbox bc that’s what my friends had, not due to the exclusives. That being said, I never enjoyed Halo or Gears. Not sure what else is an exclusive. I played Destiny pretty much exclusively for several years during this time period and another 3 year chunk was during law school and I played only shooters during that time due to a desire to not get sucked into in depth games that made me want to skip class.
You know it. New PC got delivered last week so I’m going to catch up on the games I’ve been missing out on.
Witcher 3 The Last of Us Mass Effect 2 Fallout: New Vegas Skyrim LoZ: BotW Do a playthrough of each of those at least once a year.
I'm gonna go ahead and say Death Stranding is a top 5 game of the decade for me. I just recently got around to it and was sorry I waited so long. I can see why opinions on it are so divided but it definitely hit the spot for me.
Right there with you. I can’t explain it but that game was such a zen experience and found a way to make walking a fun mechanic.
There's something so satisfying about cruising along a highway you spent a lot of time building or an efficient zip line system.
