I think he’s been caught with weed on infinite occasions. But that’s more speculation at this point than anything solid.
It has to be a little more than just failing a drug test (s) based on what some of the kids have said (hinting that he would for sure have been expelled if it were to happen earlier in bks tenure).
I think Ade could be an 8-10 sack guy next season. He improved a ton one Hayes went down and was given more downs. Big fan obviously having coached him in HS
Also I'm having a hard time getting that worked up over losing Kmet tbh. He was good and all, but he didn't seem that good. I'd much rather have Claypool back if I could chose.
Kmet would have been a preseason AA. You need players like him to break through to the next level (i.e. actually compete for championships). Seems disingenuous to want ND to get to that next level and then downplay a player of that caliber leaving with a year of eligibility remaining (and no degree). We have talent at that position but no one on the roster can replicate what Kmet would have done next season.
We need a dependable safety net for Book to fall back on. It became Claypool, but he’s obviously gone. Kmet was the next option. Now, who knows. You hope it’s the grad transfer and they build a quick rapport in the spring.
Brock Wright and Tremble is still a really good duo but having a weapon like Kmet would have been huge.
Don’t have much hope for Wright, but I really like Tremble’s potential for next year I think Mayer comes in and plays day 1
if both are healthy I think they can replace 80% of Kmets production really need to hit on these young wrs skill position talent is pretty bare next season
Yep, we're a year away from being in a great spot skill position wise. There's a lot of talent on the roster next year, but far from a guarantee that that talent will be reliable and productive. That said, we theoretically have a strong base with a very experienced QB and OL - I still think we can have a solid season offensively next year.
I do wish we had signed AJ Henning. He’s going to be electric and would’ve increased team speed a lot.
Almost a 5 star. Him coming in early would’ve been a huge help, but the kid seems to be mentality and physically put together.
I don’t think we’d expect him to start but probably play way more as the season goes on. There’s talent in front of him, but he’ll get a lot of burn later on the year.
Moorhead will be highly sought out doubt he would be a co oc. Would we rather hire him as OC/TEs or Heinstand as OL and push Quinn to TEs
I thought he had addressed that already and was taking a more active involvement in recruiting going forward. I don’t remember when that was, but I genuinely thought he was doing more on the recruiting front bc if similar issues in the past
I think you are right, he is doing more but not enough. He seems to really dislike recruiting. He was huge at the end with Chris tyree, I think he was active with jaylon Smith too. He needs to be involved way sooner though.
This is where I feel like Polian stepping back in has forced Kelly to re-look at things on the recruiting front. He may not be much of a special teams coach, but he knows how to run a recruiting operation.
On the fine line between micro managing or empowering his assistants Kelly just finds himself on the wrong side rather often. It does seem like often times his relationship begins more with the on campus visit which neither of these players made it too. I get not wanting to chase around 200 prospects that you don't know will ever be interested, it just sucks when a couple of big targets highlight where that is what came up short.
