I'm not about trading him. Pache, waters, anderson, and riley are near untouchable. But it get preinjury Bryant would be amazing for the lineup, especially if none if the 4 turn out as prospects. That's the gamble though
If they'll cover a big chunk of salary and you can buyout the optout.. This is what you push your chips in for.
One of the perks of being a shareholder is that I’m allowed to take BP at Suntrust whenever I want. The ball was flying off my bat today.
I see rumors Donaldson bidding is now at 4yrs at 28mm aav. Ppl thinking a 5th year vesting option will be what wins his services Fuck
This Donaldson shit is driving me nuts. Just trade for Arenado if we are going to pay him $28 a year jfc
From DOB on Donaldson: Multiple teams, including the Nationals, reportedly made four-year offers, but Donaldson, 34, a Southerner who played at Auburn and lives outside Mobile, Ala., loved his season with the Braves in 2019 and will stay with them on a new three-year deal with a higher average annual value and a fourth-year option that comes with a significant fourth-year buyout. There was buzz in recent weeks of the Braves’ reported interest in trading for Colorado perennial Gold Glove third baseman Nolan Arenado or former National League MVP Kris Bryant of the Chicago Cubs. But that was overstated in both cases. Think about it: Arenado has seven years and $234 million remaining on his contract, which includes a full no-trade clause and, most importantly, an opt-out clause after the 2021 season. And the Rockies aren’t so motivated to trade the face of their franchise that they would pay down a large portion of the remaining money he’s owed. So, if you’re the Braves, why would you give up prospects in a trade for Arenado, plus be on the hook for all or most of the $245 million he’s owed, when you could’ve just made a strong pursuit for Anthony Rendon, who signed a seven-year, $245 million deal with the Los Angeles Angels that includes no opt-outs? By the way, Arenado’s career splits for 516 games away from Coors Field: .265/.323/.476 with a .799 OPS. Rendon’s career splits in 453 road games: .290/.367/.484 with a .851 OPS. As for Bryant, the Braves certainly would like to have his right-handed bat in their lineup, but his third-base defense concerns teams. And few if any teams put more emphasis and value on defense than the Braves have done under Anthopoulos and the more analytics-driven front office he has put together. Beyond that, there’s the fact that Bryant would cost multiple prospects and be a rental — probably for two years but possibly only one year if he wins a grievance he filed, which will be determined soon by an arbitrator. Either way, it’s a rental player and a defensive step down from Donaldson. If the Braves don’t sign Donaldson, a more likely option than Arenado or Bryant might be a trade for an outfielder, in which case the Braves presumably would let Austin Riley compete with Johan Camargo for third-base duties. But the far-preferable course clearly is to re-sign Donaldson.
As a Liberty shareholder, I can neither confirm nor deny that it took us a month to approve those figures
Man, 4 years is a lot for 34 years old but we absolutely need him this year and into the future. Our lineup w/o him is not very good or deep. JD has shown that he really really cares about the game and plays with a chip on his shoulder. If anyone is going to do what's necessary to stay in shape and take care of his body as he ages, it's going to be that guy. He's got a little Tom Brady in him in that aspect.
He’s got a cool backstory. Power of social media getting guys baseball gigs. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cb...helped-him-earn-a-shot-at-mlb-redemption/amp/
Why wouldnt you wait and see if someone will blow you away with an offer? It's his last contract probably.
https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/infield-defense?year=2019&team=&range=year&min=q&pos=&roles= Josh Donaldson was our best infield defender according to the new outs above average stats from BaseballSavant. Might want to work on playing balls on their arm side with Dans and Oz some, Ron.
