I told you clowns to listen to Sentient Horror three years ago when the debut came out. I doubt any of you listened. Swedish worship done right. They had an EP last year, ruled as expected. New album released a few weeks ago but I'm sure you guys are too busy decorating your dicks for Christmas.
i can only speak for myself but for as much metal as i try to listen to, i still don't know enough to distinguish between the sound of any particular label other than Nuclear Blast, which seems to be like 75% bad based on their youtube account and yes i realize the irony considering that Opeth has their own NB subsidiary
this is a stupid thing that 100% validates* my own vanity it makes me feel good when i see albums i liked on the top 10 lists of metal review sites
Yes it does. Love Son of Nihility. I don’t care for anything else they’ve done outside of that album. It was such a massive stylistic change for the better. One of the best examples of a band totally re-engineering their sound.
Great Entombed clone. I don't care for their fake history, but I don't let that affect my enjoyment of the music.
I need this snowglobe guys, bad. It would go nicely with my Century Media snowglobe from 5 or 6 years ago.
The Century Media one looks like this, the "snow" is ash from the burning church. The front has the Century Media logo and reads, "Keepin' it warm since '88"
I guess there's a Scream Bloody Gore bobble head too. Goddammit, I need to be made aware of these things. I'm looking at you social media users.
New Mayhem is kinda enjoyable. This is probably the first time I've paid attention to them in two decades. Last album I purchased from them was Declaration.
It’s very good but I haven’t given it enough spins for it to “stick” I bought tickets to see the Mayhem tour with Abbath and Gatecreeper. It’s the same weekend that Rotting Christ and Borknagar are in town, should be epic.
Had a flight today and finally was able to process two albums that have been on my list, the new Blood Incantation and Yellow Eyes - Rare Field Ceiling. Both difficult to approach (for different reasons) but very worthy listens. Can see myself revisiting again.
Everyone seems to adore Blood Incantation but I find them only semi-intriguing. First track on the new EP is a winner though.
As far as I know, no There is an actual Angry Metal Guy but there are like a dozen other reviewers It's been a great source for new stuff for me
I've lost touch with most sites and reviewers. I keep an eye on metalstorm for upcoming releases but that's about it.
one thing i really like about the site (and what got me interested originally) is that they do a dynamic range rating in addition to how good the album is maybe i'm just getting old and stubborn but i will not listen to another Baroness album until they change their production
That's cool they do the dynamic range for albums. I was with you on the Vanum until I realized you said decade and not year.
I like this style of straight forward 'fuck you' black metal. No need to record two minute intros of crackling fire, crumbling dry leaves, crunchy snow walking or blowing in the microphone to sound like wind, just fucking bring it.
fwiw I remember appreciating what that Vanum album was bringing to the table while also recognizing, however, that the full package just wasn't for me hi everybody
this band is really solid, first album is good. black metal for the working man. you also might like Tsjuder, try Desert Northern Hell.
I bought Tsjuders first album about 20 years ago when it came out. I should give it spin, it's been a long time.
I have it downloaded but can't bring myself to listen to it yet. It's just going to remind me of Opeth and piss me off.
I keep seeing this band's name around but never listened because I assumed they were one of these shitty Greta Van Fleet-type bands. Oh man was I wrong
they're a bit all over the place with ton of output but that album's really their only visit into metal territory, they usually mess around with variations of psych, really cool band
Is that Prequelle? That album is super disappointing. I went back through Emperor of Sands by Mastodon this past week, and it’s one of my favorite albums by them. Brent Hinds is a fucking monster.
