suarez'd too. and roberto'd. and semedo'd. and on and on since the board won't get rid of valverde since he provides them cover for criticism, just benching suarez and putting griezmann in a central position will help enough to provide non-pathetic performances
The players aren’t excused from criticism; however, I can’t name a player that has improved since Valverde has taken over.
Loved his quote after the game saying that he won’t resign because he doesn't feel the players have failed him. I hate him so much.
This team is fundamentally broken. Granted their goalie had a great game today, it doesn't matter. Chances aren't coming naturally they're a result of and individual piece of brilliance. Greizmann seems like a square peg in a round hole playing on the wing. Vidal does absolutely nothing for me. MF needs to be De Jong, Arthur, and Rakitic imo, but we'll make the mistake in January or next summer of selling Rakitic and be chasing his replacement.
The only difference between the Greizmann signing and the Coutinho one is that Griezmann has a better work ethic. Both came to Barca being asked to play out of position and then people wonder why they don’t play up to their price tag. There is nothing to say about Valverde other than he should have been sacked after Roma. The board also deserves a ton of blame.
Vidal is such a great sub to have come on anytime after 55'. He comes on late and is high energy runs all around a tired opposition. WHERE THE FUCK IS JUNIOR FIRPO? Why was Jordi rushed back, only to reinjure himself? Wtf is happening there? Did the board buy him without Valverde's input?
Pretty frustrating to watch Messi and Suarez actively ignore Griezmann in games. Seems like they’re actively sabotaging so they can get Neymar back. I get that Griezmann is playing out of position, but ideally he’s a long term replacement for Suarez.
It's depressing that we have the unquestioned GOAT who is still easily the best player in the world and instead of him being the differentiating factor in Barca being the best team in the world we simply need him to be ridiculous every game just to win against mid-level La Liga teams.
Regarding Firpo's usage. I've been asking how and why Valverde has been using our new transfers for 3 straight seasons.
Pochettino would be a terrible fit at Barca. His style is very demanding, it works best only if the roster is completely turned over every 2-3 years. He was promised that from Spurs leadership two offseasons ago but they never followed through and now here they are. There's no way in hell that the vets on the team would react well to Poch coming in with his demanding and commanding.
This team is a fucking joke. Pique’s head is so far from the pitch, it’s a wonder he even finds his way out onto it. We had an attacking front 4 of Griezmann, Suarez, Messi, Dembele against the league’s worst team/defense for the first half and we could only score once, off a fucking corner. Generated almost 0 chances. Those 4 looked like they’d never played together. Passes were just lazy shit. It fucking sucks to be this down on the team after a win and while they’re top of the table, but they are a a spark away from being a dumpster fire. I honestly do not think we win either game this week.
Valverde’d For real, if you want to be more depressed watch De Jong with the Dutch national team and then watch him on Barca.
For the insane collection of attacking talent on this team we sure do suck dick in the attack. How has Coutinho been with Bayern? This shit is getting out of hand.
So Messi is going to win the Ballon D'or which is king of shocking. He's set the bar so high it seemed like the only way for him to win is if Barca secures a treble. Much deserved, of course.
used the one good performance per month quota wisely at least gimme the french connection at cb moving forward
Anyone found a way to watch this documentary in the US? I want to torture myself watching back our last season
Honestly did think we’d win either of those games last week. That was a good, tough win at the Wanda. Still didn’t play our best and still needed some Messi magic, but it was a good win. I really like the midfield of De Jong, Arthur, Rakitic, but I really think play would flow better with De Jong in the back and Arthur and Rakitic up front. ter Stegan is such a beast. EDIT: Didn't think we'd win
frenkie is pretty much good at everything, so hes fine wherever although i suspect hell drop back deeper next season with arthur and a summer signing playing in front of him
I always forget how young he still is. He's going to be world class. I just hope it's with us for at least a majority of his career
Carles Aleña probably moving to Real Betis in the Jan. window. Looks like loan with purchase option and a Barca buyback option. Also AC Milan making inquiries for Todibo. Offering 8M with a buyback option, Barca firm at 12M right now.
Yep. It's be just great to let him leave only to see one of our 3 defenders go down with a long-term injury leaving us with only 2. I'm imagining it to be Lenglet in my head. He seems due for an injury
Nice. While this Napoli team is certainly playing better than the one we saw here in the US, this is a great, very winnable draw.
Great draw all around. Two teams that we would struggle the most with (Liverpool Atletico) will eliminate the other. Madrid gets City. Another two teams that will result in a good team being eliminated
I'm so fed up with this fucking club man. Sign promising 16 y/o Louie Barry only to fuck that up and turn around and sell him. It's like every chance they get the fuck things up in regards to La Masia, transfers, literally anything. Fati seems like the only "right" thing this board has lucked into. Stop spending so much money to fit square pegs into round holes. I'm convinced the only reason Suarez is still around is because of how close he is with Messi. He shows moments of brilliance every other match, but the remaining time does next to nothing. We're going to end up selling guys like Suarez, Rakitic etc. a year or two too late while not giving anyone young a chance to learn and develop and trying to patch holes with band aids. I take what Raiola said re: De Ligt with a grain of salt, but we probably fucked that up too.
I admittedly have not been following Barca as closely as prior years, but there was a sense of pride in promoting youth players from La Masia. Now, it seems the board has taken the approach that Barca fans used to give Madrid fans shit for. Disappointing to say the least.
Umtiti looked like shit out there today. Messi with his most movement and creations than I've seen maybe all season from him. He was very involved.
Well having actually watched the games, I will reiterate that over the course of play Suarez has been trash.
I don’t know if you’ve watched or not, but if you have I’m not sure how you deduced Suarez has been good.
Too me, he's been doing pretty much exactly what we need a center forward to do. If you're watching this team and conclude that Suarez is the biggest problem, I'm not sure what to tell you.
Atm poked holes through the middle of our defense basically at will drawing Umtiti wide and exploiting the space between him and pique. It didn’t matt if Busi or Rakitic was at the 6 they were running rampant through the middle. Tactically this has always been a weak spot due to Alba’s propensity to get forward and when the 6 is out of position we get exposed like we did today. It was fucking awful. Umtiti couldn’t stop anything from getting past him to the middle and Pique just isn’t fast enough to close down. We have too many sets of aging legs playing too many matches but god forbid Todibo play a few league matches or hell even Umtiti to this point. So frustrating to watch game in and game out.
