Need to get Skipp some time too. I thought he’s played well in his limited playing time.

I’m not too familiar with Luke Amos but isn’t he a defensive mid. Seems a great opportunity to call him back in and get time. Just a thought

I would imagine he's gonna be sold to QPR. Seems to be about his level

Who knows what Jose thinks of Skipp... Probably not much given how little he's played despite the obvious problems / limitations with others he's played in the midfield.

More perplexing to me are the rumors that the club is trying to loan out Kyle Walker-Peters to Crystal Palace, despite the complete lack of depth at RB. Personally, I think KWP has a much higher long term upside than Serge Aurier, he just needs playing time, but what the hell do I know, I guess.

Disagree, our solution for RB has to come from outside the club. We don't have the other 10 positions on the field completely locked in to carry a fringe PL level player. If we want to stay in the top 4 hunt, we get a top 4 level RB, CDM, CB, and backup ST.

Maybe, but to bring in help from outside you have to spend some money, and I don't see Spurs doing that this month. I don't even see any rumors about Spurs buying a RB this window. In the meantime, there's Aurier and literally nothing else at RB in the club.

Second point, it's increasingly looking like Top 4 will not happen. Sounds like they're focused on streamlining the team - offloading Eriksen and Wanyama - and maybe loaning in a CM, buying a cheap striker if they can find one.

Finally, I guess the bright side is that KWP will get playing time at CP.

I'm torn on KWP. He's obviously very skilled and seems to have a good work ethic, but he's just so small. He gets dominated physically all the time and I'm not sure that any amount of playing time will solve that problem.

So we’re improving the types of shots we allow, but individual errors and poorer goalkeeping have led to a skewed number of actual goals vs expected. If I’m understanding this and the discussion around it correctly.

Basically this, although if you play Aurier and Gazza you are bound to give up goals directly related to playing Aurier and Gazza.

Fine with sending KWP out. Plunk out for Aarons/Ferguson and Piatek and we're moving in some sort of direction I guess.

If our goal is to compete for trophies, then KWP should not be seen as any kind of longterm piece. His size is always going to keep him from being a top player at his position. CP , Southampton, etc...is probably the right level for him.

he's potentially quality depth at a crucial position on a team that has no depth and a shite starter who has cost us probably 12 points this season

no, he's probably not a long term solution. Kyle Walker was a long term solution at that position and fucking Levy sold him.

I get what you’re saying, but what’s the end game in keeping him? This squad needs a massive overhaul, the club obviously need funds in a major way, and I think it’s become quite apparent that he’s breaking down at a fairly rapid pace.

Signing a backup who can spell him once in a while rather than running him into the ground every season would be a start.

He’s going to start every league and European match when healthy, so unless we start shelling out stupid money (lol) we aren’t getting anyone worth a damn to do that. See: Janssen, Vincent.

Look at you, naming a bust and holding it up as the rule. Just a dude who scored 27 goals in 34 appearances (yes, in a lower league, and?) the year before we got him at the age of 22. Guess we are never going to sign any productive backup strikers.

    Yeesh.

We’ll sign backup strikers, they just won’t be anything more than fringe quality because no one is going to want to come sit on the bench with the wages we’ll offer. It’s not a novel concept.

I’d rather have a fringe quality backup than sell the face of the franchise. A truly world-class striker who genuinely loves Tottenham? Players like Kane don’t grow on trees.

I think Alabama should go ahead and fire Nick Saban. Dude didn't even make the playoffs this year, seems to have lost his touch and if they can cut bait and maybe not have to pay all of his salary for the next 10 years of his contract or whatever, I think they'll be better off and be able to rebuild with a lesser coach.

    See how dumb this sounds?

I don’t want to sell him either, but at some point I think it could be in the best interest of both parties.

It’s dumb because it’s not even remotely similar, and we both know that. Take a deep breath. I don’t want to sell Kane, hence the use of the term “consider”, but he’s likely done for this year and has now had significant injuries in three successive seasons. He’ll be 27 next year, with maybe 3-4 prime years left. Does anyone truly think we’re going to win something of consequence during that span? Even with the new stadium I think it’s evident that we’re still a sell to buy club, and he’s the one asset we have that can facilitate an overhaul of the squad.

Selling Bale honestly didn't do great things for us. A few bright spots that cost a fraction of the money gained from the sale (Lamela was 30m, I love him but he has not been a significant contributor. Eriksen was 11.5m, obviously worth it, but my point is we wasted so much of that money. The sales of Caulker and Defoe covered Eriksen's transfer fee). We couldn't help it because he wanted out.

Kane doesn't want out. Kane stays.

Also, if we sell Kane it won’t do much to change the perception of Spurs being a small selling club. And like PeterGriffin said, there’s no guarantee we’d spend the windfall from a potential Kane sale effectively.

Ironically enough, him growing into what he did saved the club from having to rely on Lamela and Soldado to carry the scoring load.

Bale wanted out so we had to sell him. Kane has never expressed a desire to leave. He is the face of the team, selling him when his value is low and he doesn't want to leave doesn't make any sense. If money is the issue then maybe we shouldn't have given a massive deal to an over the hill mediocre manager.

The club isn't selling Kane unless he demands out. Same with Son. At least in my opinion.

The problem is I'm not sure how many more seasons like this he's going to want to deal with before he looks at the calendar and realizes he's got no hardware, doesn't have many good years left, and is playing for a club that won't do what it takes to get to the next level.

Not many good years left? He’s 26. Maybe don’t play him every game and he won’t get hurt so much.

Seems pretty expensive for scoring all of 4 goals this season, btw. Hopefully some sort of loan with a buy option or something.

Okay, so let's pretend that we are willing to spend any money. Who, in this window, is needed. Berge + a striker? The tweet above says Semedo in the summer, would we seriously loan out KWP and not bolster the RB spot this window?
