With how the game is evolving, you would be dumb to not consider a European coach. When the Wings move on from Blashill, I hope they look at a guy like Igor Larionov..
After we fired Yeo, I had my heart set on Gronberg. Berube happened, but I cant believe no one hired Gronberg over the summer. Well - I can believe for all the reasons we just discussed, but it's silly to me no one has.
See: The butterfly PP unit distribution Having “balanced” lines Shots from the point Smaller defensemen Corsi Etc, etc.
As much as he looks like the Humpty Dumpty mascot, I really think Claude Julien is a competent coach with the respect of its locker room, despite 3 straight years without playoffs, which is no small task.
4 year contract as well. Hard bitching about much having the best record but we have some serious liabilities
Thread seems kind of slow. Anyone been to the skills challenge? Looks like we are going this year. Truman the wife managed to get me into a Blues sweater during our trip up there over Christmas.
Preds still my guys but I don't mind supporting the blues when they aren't playing each other. I was able to win the argument about the only Blues sweater I'd consider being "mine" being and old school one. Maybe Hull or the great one? Don't know enough about Blues history.
Don’t get a Hull one. MacInnis Pronger Oates Shanahan Sutter CuJo Or if you want to get my childhood fave Ian Laperriere
Which ones were bruisers? Maybe me wearing someone like that will inspire the preds with some toughness.
i remembered zombo for some reason, also thought about bozon but that dude played just one season. No idea why these two are the first names that comes to my mind when I think about blues players. I did not even remember that peter statsny played for the blues for a while i didn’t know Federko, I googled « top blues players » and he was number one.
yeah, remembered after seeing it. One of his kid played for st-louis here at the pee wee tournament. He was a focus of,the media since peter statsny is a god in this city. The kid refused to speak French during one interview since he was not comfortable, Peter was not happy and basically told him-you are in Quebec, you at least make the effort to speak their language-he did it during the interview and Paul or the other one spoke french the rest of the interview. the statsnys are legends here, peter seems like such a class act. He was always very grateful of the city, and he did a lot for it. His brothers are still here. Peter is one of the most underrated player in nhl history
He cane along when these guys were peaking Gretzky Trottier Messier Yzeman Hawerchuk Lemieux Amazing. And Statsny was elite.
Bishop seems like a first rate person. Always a pleasure dealing with him. Was sad the Sens chose to let Lehner push them into Bishop.
I’ve met bishop a couple times through mutual friends. You’d never know he’s a million dollar athlete. Super nice dude.
yep, tough guys to overcome. trottier was also underrated, same type of player as statsny who played better than the stats but back then it was not documented as much. These guys were the top two way centers, impossible to take the puck away from them and made everybody around them so much better.
We suck ass currently. Condolences to the team that gives Holtby a long term contract, love him but he sucks.
I have been known to give a little too much term on a contract because the asset really sucked. It never really paid off long term. You live you learn
Marner will destroy the skills competiton, especially the hands and precision passing Hughes will be a disapointement in the fast skating competition, he is fluid and fast but not necessarily the fastest on a track.
