I'm a moth to a flame. I get a little bit of Tim/Bill in the morning, Pearson/Kimrey at lunch and Heath after work. This is in between pretentious Spotify playlists. Their text in line has been the biggest godsend ever. So many thoughts I can now express rather than talking back to the radio
Real good dude, though intimidating as all get out, as a good strength coach should be. Was really good when Ole Miss was recruiting high level athletes, less so when they weren’t. Did a good job with the skill positions, thought his work with OL left something to be desired. Mixed bag on injury prevention, but I think some of that is out of someone’s control and just good/bad luck either way. He’ll do fine. Will set a good culture, players will like him. Did a good job at Ole Miss bringing former players back in the building in the offseason to workout, keep those connections up with the NFL kids.
So beer sales debuted last night at the women's bball game. Anyone heard what are the prices/selection?
Domestic $8 Premium $9 Craft $10 Wine $9 looks like Coors, Miller, Bud, Sweetwater 420, Heineken, Truly, Columbia Craft, Mich ultra, and angry orchard
Too bad they aren't 24s and not 16s at that price. I get they don't want people pounding multiple though. Wonder what that little 12oz Columbia Craft can costs. Cool they included them as you can see the brewery from the arena. Damn if Cola Craft made a Gamecock basketball beer I'd be all in
I’m actually impressed with the selection - good enough variety for any beer fan to find something they like, especially those folks loyal to their domestic go-to. That is a good point about Columbia Craft being included. I find that cool too.
Same. Did you see this they posted earlier today? Exciting addition Spoiler 2019 was a great year for CCBC and we want to thank you again for such a great year. As we look to the New Year, we have exciting plans for 2020. For the past 6 months we have been working with the City of Columbia, architects and engineers to bring you a larger, more enhanced brewery. Construction will start on site at 520 Greene today and should be completed by May 2020. The highlights of this project include a rooftop bar with at least 16 taps and skyline views, a covered patio with TVs, an outdoor patio for pets, a large cooler room, and a barrel aging room that will be able to house upward to 100 bourbon/wine/rum barrels. We do not plan to close the taproom during construction but some street parking may be affected. The parking spots in front of the building (where the rocks are) will be blocked off during construction. All other parking spots will be available. We can’t wait to bring this project to life. Thank you for your patience during this time Cheers.
Went to Comedy Closet in West Columbia last night. (On Meeting Street across from Bill's Pickin Parlor.) Pretty fun new spot
Idk they said he wanted to study abroad and travel more and he couldn’t do that full-time at the school Saw something that said he and his wife may be moving to France for some time
Got 5th Ave Deli for lunch the other day. Gotdam, how does anyone ever decide on a sandwich? They all look amazing
Football/basketball/baseball all appear to be in absolute rooins, but at least the Lady Cocks are back on top at #1
Prob should have just left it that way tbh 114 YEARS AGO TODAY IN COLUMBIA Intercollegiate football at South Carolina College was abolished by act of the board of trustees on January 13, 1906, and the renamed University of South Carolina did not field a team that fall. This was part of a movement across the country against a sport considered to be too dangerous. Columbia, Northwestern, Duke, and other major institutions also dropped football after the 1905 season. Football was reinstated by an act of the trustees on October 29, 1907. The major rules changes made nationally that year for collegiate football significantly reduced concerns about the sport’s dangers. The timing of the board’s decision allowed only enough time to put together a short, hastily organized schedule for the 1907 season. It turned out to be the Gamecocks only unbeaten season to date as they defeated College of Charleston (14-4), the Medical College of Georgia (4-0), and The Citadel (12-0). The attached headline clipping is from The State, January 14, 1906.
I think he's a very good special teams coordinator, a mediocre linebacker coach, and outside of specialists I can't tell you anyone he's actually recruited since he got to Columbia. He was credited on Pickens by 247 but I think that Muschamp did the lion's share of the work there. He's supposed to have Las Vegas connections but obviously that never panned out for us. Maybe it would at Texas?
him being a very good special teams coordinator is good enough for me. texas hasn’t had a good special teams in ages. surprised to hear him being mediocre as LB coach being under the coaches he has been.
