Post wedding. They talked about the wedding some and then Dan told stories about the early days of ESPN.
Holiday podcasting is rough. Glad the boys are back. Also, I had such a garbage opinion of Mina Kimes in 2019. New Year and she’s the best.
sounds like he's about to announce he's leaving. Wouldn't be surprised if he's joining Chelsea's media department full time.
would make sense. shocked he's willing to move his family shortly after having a kid, but maybe it was too good of an offer to pass up.
Wow. I know he's involved with Chelsea but didn't realize he had the credibility to get poached already into that world
To his credit Mike seems like a very sharp guy. i also have a feeling that he knows/thinks Dan won't be doing radio for too much longer. if he is moving on it's because he is setting himself up for the future.
Think Dan and Stu signed 5 year deals with ESPN last year. A lot of money and they gave Dan his podcast network that is helping him launch a lot of his friends. Wouldn't be surprised if this is his last contract though. Think we will see Stugotz in some form or fashion for as long as ESPN will keep writing him checks.
Could see him semi-retiring. Doing an occasional story and doing a ton of Mas Miami type stuff. Seems like he wants to have a kid too. I don't think he is someone who will lack for things to do without his show, and I don't think he will particulary miss doing it full-time. My two cents anyway.
That sucks about mike as he’s a phenomenal producer. He writes/comes up with nearly everything on that show that is comedic
I am just saying, he has 4 years left on his deal and I could see him not signing a new deal after that, at least in a full-time show capacity. He will be 55 and I think there are a lot of things he still wants to do. Also, they joke pretty regularly about the show not being around in another ten years.
Mike has been the best part of the show since ESPN muzzled Dan and Stu became self aware. Him leaving would effectively end the show for me.
Eh, don’t necessarily know if it means dan is quitting radio anytime soon. I used to be a big Jim Rome fan and he had staff come and go. J stew, the producer who pretty much came up with the idea of the smack off, left for other opportunities. Kyle grant, the producer after him, left after getting that nfl morning show opportunity. Seems like radio producers have high turnover.
But did you move away from all your family support system? Both him and his wife have their entire family local. Maybe it's just the hispanic in me, but it would take a shit ton for me to move away from my and my wife's parents when we are first starting our family.
most shows do have a ton of turnover. However, this one has been pretty consistent. The only major person who has left in 15 years is Marc Hochman because he got a taste of the hosting life and decided he'd rather do that then produce. If Mike is really leaving, it seems the same bug has gotten to him as well but in a different medium.
I don't think he's moving. He literally talked about this yesterday. So maybe the move lets him stay living in Miami
It was yesterday or last week but was taking about that support system and how great living in Miami is. Might have been on mystery crate but I just listened to it
Been listening for the last 40 min. No mention of it. Feels like a 12:56 announcement of DJing is coming.
this reeks of a Scoops Cote special. also. It feels way too trolly considering every rejoin song has been a “goodbye” song.
