keto got a bad rap when it started being a fad diet. The “OMG I can eat as much bacon as I want calories don’t matter” bullshit I keep reading sucks. There are plenty of good fats you can eat to make it healthy.
I have probably ate more veggies in the last year than I have in the previous 5 years combined. Most nights it’s broccoli/cauliflower with a meat and a little dressing/cheese to top it off. Feels a million times better for me than the shit I used to eat.
My local target finally had the quest pizza. I think I’m getting back full time after I finish my beer.
This one is leftover brisket heated in a dry pan until it glistens. Spinach wrap and crispy parmesan folio wrapped around the brisket, red onion, and avocado verde. This will make you slap your mama twice on Sunday.
Barely over 5 for that. A few diced onion and 1-2 tbsp of verde. If you just use the wraps with good quality cured meats & cheese, and a little lettuce and mayo then it’s only 3 from the spinach wrap and 1 from the folio. Fried egg wrap is great too.
Can’t quit thinking about in n out protein style for dinner tonight. Glad their fries are trash so I’m not too tempted
Are there any good keto nacho cheeses? And does quests or anyone make a good substitute for chips yet (yes I know chicharrones but they’re so dry). A girl at work had some cauliflower cheese it’s but they tasted like crap and still had a bunch of carbs.
Quest chips are solid but I remember not getting a ton of chips for the amount of carbs they are, and they’re expensive
Fell off the wagon over the holidays. Getting back on the horse and boy I forgot how bad the keto shits suck
When I eat, I produce saliva. When I eat multiple chips, it takes me longer to eat them than when I only eat one because I have to chew longer. So more saliva gets into the food while chewing.
Found a pizza place down the street with cauliflower crust personal size pizzas. Really hit the spot when you’re craving food. actually likes the cauliflower crust better than their regular crust.
You aholes. All this pizza talk got me itching. Checked my local joint, their cauliflower crust still has 22 carbs. Fuck that. Went to the store. No quest pies. Hate you all right now.
The Quest pizzas aren’t great, but they’ll do in a pinch to get pizza flavor. It’s like a low-rent Totino’s without the cripsy crust.
I've given up on keto pizza. IMO you don't get anything close to pizza. Instead I have moved onto pizza flavors in other dishes - like Rao's, pepperoni and mozz in an omelette with basil/oregano/parsley seasoning.
did a pizza chaffle a few weeks back that was good minced and added pepperoni to the mixture then topped with bell peppers and mushrooms came out pretty good but almost too cheesy
Also a large portobello mushroom with pizza sauce ,mozzarella cheese and pepperoni tastes exactly like a pepperoni and mushroom pizza.
I'm gonna try that portobello trick. I do the Almond flour, coconut flour, parmesan, etc crust. I make twice as much as I need and freeze half. Tweak it with spices and roll it thin and it's pretty damn good.
