How rare are dual meet upsets? It seems like a lot of very unlikely things would have to break OSU’s way to have a chance. That’s a #1 vs. #4. Is Iowa that good this year?
1 vs 2 or 1 vs 4 doesn’t mean much in a sport where there is a large disparity between lineups. it’s not like basketball or football where you have team sport aspects involved. It’s 10 1v1 matchups instead of 1 11v11 matchup, which eliminates a healthy amount of variance. Ohio state isn’t going to win
I’ve only been watching wrestling for 5 years but Mark Hall is one of my all time favorites. He’s just a smooth wrestler.
Challenging calls a minute after the fact is such bullshit. Let's wait to see what happens and if my guy comes out on top then I won't but if he doesn't then we'll challenge it and go back to the fact. I don't blame Cael, he takes advantage of atrocious rules.
If you're gonna pick a Penn State guy to love, Zain and Nickal are significantly more likeable and more entertaining than Hall. I root for both of them. Bo is a significantly more entertaining wrestler as well, Hall is just boring.
Great dual. Time for Iowa to get 82 iffy stall calls in a match they'll win by 20+ points regardless.
Tom Ryan is fucking moron pulling Decatur's redshirt so we can get the same result we'd get without him.
That was a hell of defensive match by Sasso. Real surprised he didn’t get taken down. Didn’t do much on offense tho.
Felt bad for the guys Lee and DeSanto wrestled. That would suck to go on the mat and get thrown around that much.
Decatur was a top 5 p4p wrestler in his class, him being that gassed was fucking embarrassing. Not to mention, he has 0 mat skills.
I know the basics of wrestling, but not much more than that. Fun as hell to watch. Lot of guys on home board saying Lugo had a takedown for sure. Obviously theyre biased. Curious to know why it was or wasn’t. They’re saying his left hip hit for a bit and is why it was a takedown.
Lee got a scrub. Desanto manhandled a decent wrestler. Those two are a fucking hell of a lightweight duo.
just read that Wyoming legend Bryce Meredith is gonna make the switch to MMA. Might be enough to get me to follow the sport if he succeeds
Watched Sasso/Lugo. You could just sense Lugo's frustration watching that match. How Sasso avoided being taken down time and time again was a thing of beauty. I've only seen one of his 2 losses (Moore), but if I were him, I'd probably continue to not do much offensively as long as he can get away with it. He works so hard on the head that he won't be called for stalling much, and may be able to just stick with a front headlock, and/or the occasional dump/fireman's offensively. After that Lugo match, it's honestly hard to picture him getting beat wrestling like that.
