All the way back in 2017 there was an article talking about an unsafe Bioweapons lab in the Wuhan region of China. The outbreak of the Coronavirus started less than 8 miles from there. nature.com/news/i...
Guys, Chinese construction is fast, but it's not THAT fast. There was already a new hospital being built that's going to be fast-tracked for opening and used for quarantine.
I've personally witnessed Chinese people pave about a 1/4 mile stretch of road with nothing but a cement truck and a bunch of dudes with trowels in about 2-3 hours. They can build stuff fast as hell over there. It's amazing what you can do when you have an unlimited labor force, unlimited capital from the government, and lax zoning and labor laws.
I'm glad you are here as the voice of reason. I'm sure there are SO many incorrect and overblown rumors being spread in part, because China is so vastly different than the US. And truthfully, the racist shit I'm seeing all over Twitter is completely blowing my mind.
Propaganda goes in all directions. I wouldn't say I'm a voice of reason, per se, I just have some additional avenues of information to share, as well as anecdotal experience.
Also, this is going to get much worse. Anyone who thought it wouldn't is a moron. There's 500mm+ people moving around the country this week. The response from the CCP wouldn't be nearly as drastic without that fact. Of course, these drastic steps could also be due to some mistake made in some lab that they know about. It's possible. Anyone who pitches that as fact is dumb as hell.
Its basically a packed football stadium full of people type of density within about a regular 4-5 floor office building. A typical Tuesday morning in a Chinese hospital in a major city still looks like a 50% discount Black Friday store sale.
This is 100% true. I have an office in Shanghai and spend my time in Xian and Hohhot for the better part of the last decade. Not to stereotype but at the simple sign of the common cold they freak out and if it is their children this is compounded. Many go for what is called “fluids” at the local hospitals which when I was there in late November, were packed with toddlers and the like getting IV medications. If I offer Ibuprofen they scoff at this rather wanting a needle in the arm. In all the hospitals and clinics I see they have a special ward for this and it’s so bad the government has recently cracked down on this form of medicine. My other litmus test to this situation is an upcoming trip post holidays where I am being told not to travel to China. This is a huge red flag to me.
The hospital density is also compounded by the fact that China actually has pretty decent/cheap healthcare, so anytime anyone has something, they go to get a checkup.
How do you think China’s handling it? You think they were suppressing the numbers until it cases reached other countries?
You left out the hot water... You work for a multinational or U.S. company, if you don't mind me asking?
My own multinational BUT don’t let that fool you I have tried many times to exit China and have been told my lack of better judgement has been fairly profitable.

Good question, and history would tell us don’t believe anything but China got hammered for how they handled SARS so I “think” most is above board on this one. This also holds true with what I see on Chinese social media. That’s the good news, what I don’t like, and I can speak for some of those more politically aligned, the concern is how the government is “concerned” if that makes sense. The largest public quarantine in history makes me a wee bit nervous.
Unfortunately, the only way to really learn about and get a feel for this thing is more people outside of China getting sick. Then we will learn who is most vulnerable, true infection to death rates etc not a doctor, just an opinion
Apparently a few people have come into my wife's office with symptoms and just recently come back from China. FFS
I'm looking forward to everyone freaking out when they hear I just got back from China and was sick when I first got back.
It just goes to show that people can do amazing things on the back of human suffering and slave labor
