Had never watched any F1 but a buddy loves it and got me to watch S1 of the Netflix series and a couple races last year. Will probably watch a few more this year.
Rewatching the Netflix part about Ricciardo picking Renault They will be nowhere for the duration of that contact. All the quotes leading up were that how big of a decision this is because he wants to win a championship.
I like Riccardo in a lot of the behind the scenes stuff, but he was pretty cringey in that whole doc. Definitely a laugh at his own jokes guy.
I think he's also getting exposed as an inferior talent to Max/Leclerc/etc., and doesn't know how to deal with that. He's also older than those guys, which makes it a little uncomfortable. You've got LH and Seb as elder statesmen now (hard to believe), and these young guys.
If your not the #1 at Ferrari or Mercedes you aren’t winning titles in this era of car. So leaving to be a #1 and making more money has to be the goal and Daniel achieved that. The cherry on top is maybe under the new car specs Renault might be more competitive
Seb was the #1 at Ferrari this year...until... I know what you're saying. But Abiteboul is a bitch and will never win.
You could tell that Cyril wanted to gloat after landing Daniel, but deep down he knew how much of a bitch he was and couldn't do it.
Launch Dates start as early as February 11th (Ferrari) February 19th starts testing. Think we are under 50 days till lights out at Australia.
In other F1 news the Miami GP has to redo its layout because of local complaints about using a public road and how it will effect traffic.
My buddy and I were looking into going to the Montreal GP. I got pretty excited thinking abt seeing one of these in person.
I’ve done Montreal as a kid. Best racing experience ever. We had tickets at the hair pin. plan one day to return so I can enjoy the off track fun
not sure. Along with a new track layout they won’t allow any cars on the track Friday till after school is let out. Apparently having cars on the track will interfere with school.
Given all the issues already and the planned 2021 debut I have a hard time seeing this happening at this point.
DO IT. It's worth springing for grandstands, I think. The hairpin was super crowded when I attended way back in 2009. You want to get a place where they gear down, come by, and then speed up again. There will always be tvs to watch the general progress, just IMO.
This show shows that every sport should be trying to get their own version of this/Hard Knocks/etc. The look behind the curtain and personalities brings in fans that otherwise would have no interest. When ND had their show on Showtime, my wife who hates sports would watch it and she still remembers who Sheldon Day, Jaylon Smith, Jerry Tillery, etc are.
I still need to pick a driver and/or team to follow. Hopefully S2 helps me figure it out. Though more than likely I will wait until next year to find one after watching more races this year.
Where else was he going to go? He and Glenn Beavis made it sound like they had the pick of the grid when in reality it was either be #1 at Renault, be #2 at Red Bull or a back of the grid team. And this is just my personal opinion but I think Cyril just went after Ricciardo to stick it to Hoerner when in reality Cyril probably did Hoerner a favor.
Thing is, if this was Horner or Toto the response would be "yeah totally I agree". But when you have a history of being a bitch this just snowballs that
Do you guys listen to any F1 podcasts? I noticed ESPN has one. But the brief clip I listened to didn't really hook me to give them a shot.
I like Shift+f1. It doesn't take itself too seriously while providing enough insight to not make it a joke.
I listened to them for a bit. It got a bit stale for me. The recap from the previous week could do without going over qualifying. They also would get sidetracked on random stuff more often with the three man pods. I ended up using the podcast as something to fall asleep to at night lol.
The Gary Anderson technical pods are a tough listen for me, but the race recaps from Ed Straw, Glen Freeman, and Scot Mitchell are good. Karun Chandock is still at Autosport doing their pods so he is pretty good too
