Nice. You will definitely be flying out of terminal B or C if you’re go to GB. All the small regional delta flights fly out of those terminals.
cat Cora’s has revolution anti-hero on tap; was on a work assignment for 4 months, flying through DTW every week. This place was right next to my connecting gate, so I’d always go there, do emails and drink a few anti-hero’s so I could sleep on my flight home. One Thursday I closed out to go board, found out my flight was delayed an extra hour so I walked back. Ordered another, and went to close out and the bartender said there was no need to pay again, he’d just catch me next Thursday...
Didn’t know we had this thread. I travel quite a bit for work. I really like DFW, MSP, DEN (if connecting — hate going in and out of it). I recently went through PHX and it’s ok. Hate LAX (I try to go through Burbank when I go to LA). Hate all the NYC airports. I think DAL might be the best small airport in the country. I’m really hyped for the new KC airport (https://archpaper.com/2019/09/som-kansas-city-airport/#gallery-0-slide-0). Hoping it will attract some more flights and just generally improve my life. A lot of weird KC people love the old airport for some reason but it’s an absolute joke, maybe worst in America.
it’s about time they replaced KCI I also didn’t know up until about 2 weeks ago that they’d built a new terminal at MSY - I’m glad I looked, because i would’ve been really confused when I walked out of the jetway when I go to NOLA next month.
After the big updates done in DEN I definitely understand the issues with going in/out of there. The way they changed all the passenger pick-up area is so bad. They don't allow Uber/Lyft to stage anywhere close and there's always bad traffic so if you're waiting on a car it can take 15-20 minutes just for them to get to you from the cell phone lot. However, anyone flying in that is going downtown should just be using the light rail anyway. Solid airport for connecting though; the train between terminals is fast and lots of decent dining options, although they lose a few points by dropping that one restaurant off the Priority Pass
I went to KC a few years back and was excited after this board of course pumped it up. probably the worst airport I have been in that’s not a podunk airport
Flew into the new MSY this week and they did a terrific job. Its a beautiful airport. The shuttle to the rental car facility at the old MSY on the other hand... they need to figure that out.
MCI is terrible. I get before security checkpoints it was probably great to park in the middle and walk to your gate straight away but the pain in the ass it is now and the lack of any good food options makes it down right atrocious
Going to DFW Tues. I need any tips you have on that place. I really need to upgrade my AMEX for that Centurion life.
MSP is rehabbing all their Delta Lounges and potentially adding a third. Going to be great as the main club is nowhere near big enough for the amount of traffic. Secondary one is a legacy NWA club that is enormous but way out of the way for most flights and has trash food options. Self serve bar is always a bonus though. Going to be interested to see what Austins new Delta club looks like when I'm there in a few weeks as I imagine it'll be the model for the rehabs.
That's great. I've got three different clients in MSP so I fly out of there often and their current lounges are pretty pitiful.
My main takeaway from that DFW stint was that panda *and* IHOP express both have bars and that the terminal that seems to be intl is kinda neat.
One time I saw people who got booked to Kansas City instead of Orlando by mistake. Classic MCI/MCO mixup.
Ate at Cat Cora’s at DTW, enjoyed an Anti Hero with my breakfast sandwich. The tunnel was cool. Pretty solid airport.
the Panda Express at PHX has breakfast and that's where I discovered that Breakfast Fried Rice was a thing that I really enjoy
i've never been in a busier lounge than the one in Incheon I hit was quieter in the terminal which was very nice, ended up just eating there
When I was walking from customs to the terminal in Incheon I was talking to my dad very loudly on the phone dropping F bombs because I was alone and not sure where I was going. I turned the corner to the train about 500 Asians were all standing there dead silent staring at me. I was amazed how quiet they all were in that spot and the rest of the airport
Not sure what to think of Bradley International. All I know is it’s better than Logan. And good to know about MSY. Ready to get down there again this spring.
I love the myth that SWA is cheaper. They are never cheaper for me and I have consistently priced them out from Dallas/Houston/Austin, two of which are their hubs, including their base.
Depends where you’re going. Can go a lot of places out west from PHX pretty cheap on SW still in my experience.
I mean marvelous branding (Transfareancy!) and a coup on their part to coop being the 'best low cost carrier', but in those pricing data points, they are often above DL, UA and AA. Would love to see anything substantive about this, at least over the last couple years - the time period I'm talking about.
In my experience booking SW, they're only cheaper on the "Wanna Get Away" fares, and you have to snag those months in advance of your flight.
I was mercilessly attacked by Southwest stans in a thread somewhere. Nothing in that article surprises me. It's the Greyhound of the skies.
They're an airline for dumb midwesterners traveling with multiple loud snotnose kids, and that's what i am so i often fly them
I'm not entirely sure what would make someone stan for SW. It's just an airline. There's nothing better about their experience. I don't travel much for work so I have no reason to be loyal to any particular one to hit status. Whoever gets me there for the best combo of price and timeliness gets my business.
The only reason I fly southwest is because I hit companion pass every year and have a boatload of points.
SW is what it is but I know Frontier and Allegient makes SW feel like Emirates air so it can always be worse
Delta Stan. All other domestic airlines are inferior and I refuse to fly them unless absolutely necessary
