My O/U on the amount of GOP senators that come out with their “I don’t approve of the actions of the president and am deeply troubled and concerned” statements within 12 hours of acquitting is 20.
House did their job. Impeachment managers were excellent. If dems get the 08 or even 12 voter turnout, the senate should flip and the dems should hold all 3 branches. I didn't think there was even a sliver of hope that would happen before impeachment but if there was ever a call to action for dem voters, this would be the moment. Gotta hope the ballot measures in battle ground states are popular with dems and maybe Americans will save America.

Don’t understand the smugness. Our country is almost 250 years old and this is only the 4th time this has happened. The first time with a president seeking re-election. The ostrich method of burying your head doesn’t accomplish anything. Schiff has had some moments that will be played in our history for generations to come. Senator King said it best when he said his night one closing statements were an “oratory for the ages.” I have a 5 year old and all he knows is that “the president is a liar” but in ten years when he learns about ‘the death of the conservative party’ I’m glad that I can tell him I watched that sham of a “trial”.
Me not watching accomplished as much as anyone watching every second. It’s not “burying my head in the sand”. I am honestly amazed that anyone thinks that’s what it was. Of course the world knew Trump wasn’t getting removed. That’s not the point. How many times in our lives can we say we witnessed a quintessential moment in American history? Few and far between. In 10, 20, 30, 50 years when your kid/grandkids say, “hey, we learned about the Trump impeachment in Civics today, do you remember that grandpa?” “No, I couldn’t devote an hour of my day watching history.”

well, for one, it doesn’t make me want to commit seppuku...quite as bad. that’s kind of an exaggeration, but I don’t have to watch in real time to know, understand, and appreciate the historical context behind what is happening. at least with the online lens I’ve curated for myself I can both do what I referenced in the former sentence and laugh and smile. I like to do the latter a lot.
