What a disaster, shitty way to end the year. Hope they can build on this as opposed to letting everything go.
He out thought himself in the 4th. But I think it is a different game if Jimmy doesn't overthrow on 2nd and 9 when he had a man wide open. Next year is crucial for him. He doesn't throw guys open and kills plays.
That drive after the second pick killed us, terrible throwing on 2nd and 5 up 20-17 just feed Mostert or run that reverse to Deebo
Yeah had 9 minutes, picked up a first down and get stuffed on 1st down to make it second and nine. Run a slant with a guy that had his man beat for a first and Jimmy airmails him quite bad. And then have a minute and 56 seconds, all three timeouts, in Chiefs territory and go panic mode trying to pick up a first down every single time.
We lost the game, and had several points where we could have put it over the edge for the win. But the officiating was iffy. Most of the calls against the Niners, at least two agaist the Chiefs ( prob more ), and several non calls were sloppy and inconsistent. Not on the conspiracy level, just inconsistent.
I’m no huge Jimmy G fan but it’s fucking ridiculous and inexcusable that our offensive minded head coach “outthought himself” in the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl. We made it there on the strength of the running game and play action pass and we built our lead in the third the same way. Then, all of the sudden, he wants to go straight shotgun drop back pass?? Fuck off with that shit. Also, so much for saving Kittle for the super bowl. Apparently doubling him is all it takes to completely neutralize him all game.
Still love your team. There’s only 1 AFC team I would of rooted for to beat you guys. That run game and DL isn’t going anywhere so look forward to the future.
I did get tired of all of the outside screen pass attempts. It feels like only one was successful. The Chiefs were all over those all game.
The biggest issue I had with the officiating was the missed hold on the long third down. The inside pass rush had his jersey almost ripped off and no call. Maybe Mahomes makes a magic play on 3rd and 25 but would have at least wiped out the massive gain.
Yeah pretty eerie how similar the last two Super Bowl teams have been. Dominant defenses, great running games and QBs who are question marks. Also with big money coming up on the defensive end. Hopefully they can bounce back.
Fucking choke job no way around it. What happened to the creativity in the run game in the fourth quarter? All season long Kyle was dialing shit up like option pitches from the FB and shit like that. How about the inside handoff to Deebo that got us a twenty yard TD earlier in the season? I know Jimmy G missed the crucial play to Sanders but we didn’t help him out at all with that bullshit playcalling in the fourth. And I know he’s fast as fuck, but how does Hill get that wide open on third down and 15? I think we only rushed four and almost got to Mahomes, so we had 7 motherfuckers dropping back while Hill wound up in his own zip code. This one hurts way more than the Ravens loss because we had this fucking game. It should have been game over after that final Mahomes pick. Run the fucking ball and grind the clock.
Yeah we morphed into a stale offense in the 4th. The dropback and simple runs to the outside were frustrating to watch. Especially with all the creativeness early in the game. Simple bust on the Hill play but if they are calling (the correct) call against Kittle there should have been holding on Bosa rushing on the inside on the play. The interior OL had his arm almost wrapped around his neck. If not for that I think he gets to Mahomes or at least impacts the throw.
That was such bullshit, I barely reacted to the Hill catch because Bosa was so obviously being held before the pass. Highly suspect officiating but I'm not going to blame the loss on that. I just don't understand the heavy reliance on the run game all year and Shanahan generally not trusting Garoppolo in big situations but then he calls two straight passes after we get 5 yards on 1st down? In a situation where we absolutely need to kill the clock, now he trusts Jimmy? That shit made me sick for real.
I was fine relying a bit more on Jimmy G but at least do something creatively. He isn't a Mahomes where he can drop back and throw dimes. Needed to use Kansas City's aggressiveness against them and we weren't able to do it. Some misdirection or creative runs keeping them from just pinning their ears back but we played right into it.
I could go either way with some of the decisions Shanahan made but the one I didn’t like was settling for a field goal on the first drive of the second half. He obviously viewed that drive as key based on how he called the end of the first half. Can’t settle for FGs against a team like KC. Eventually they’re going to score. For 53 minutes the defense played that offense as well as anyone possibly could. They were getting frustrated that they had to keep working to get down the field, it wasn’t easy. But then KC finally got their big play and got hot. I thought the Moore pick was game over considering KC spent a lot of time on that drive but the offense couldn’t get going in the fourth. Outside of the pick Jimmy played a good first three quarters but he was bad in the fourth. I was really surprised he didn’t go to Kittle more on crucial downs, not sure if that was play calling or him. Obviously pretty bummed after this one. I was more emotional after the Ravens loss because of the roller coaster that game was and the expectations that team had. This year was fun, felt like this team was having a special season. I’m more shocked this time around. Things were playing out perfectly until the pass to Hill. We still have a solid core but it’s tough to get to this point. Everything fell into place this year, I expect next years team to be good but so did Rams fans last year. Hopefully we keep Armstead and Jimmy improves next year.
