Like two 2nd rounders that turn into Khrushchev Middleton Edit: I don’t know why “Khris” auto-corrects to Khrushchev in my phone and I’m just gonna leave it
Was wondering if a team like Boston would make a play for him. I have no clue what his value should be.
I don't get the Rose thing. He's such an injury risk. I don't mind the Morris thing because he has a really cheap option for next year and will have value (either to us to someone else) at some other point. If we keep him now and then don't pick up that option, I'll be very annoyed.
I can see that from a front office perspective. From a fan perspective, I'm terrified of Drummond opting in and us being stuck watching him for another season.
Capela going to Atlanta might screw us over with Drummond. He doesn't have many options if he opts out. The thing that's in our favor is Drummond is stupid and may not believe he won't get the max from someone until he opts out.
The Clippers just made a move to give them more financial flexibility and both Beard and Edwards seem to be coy about another move incoming. I assume it’ll be for Morris or Galloway.
Not trading Galloway in the last year of his deal feels somewhat inexcusable if that's what happened. Maybe no one wanted him, but I find that somewhat hard to believe they couldn't at least get a 2nd rounder for him.
Yep. I’m thrilled and shocked about Drummond, but we needed to trade Galloway and Morris too for me to feel great about the front office.
Morris is a tough one. In a market where his brother landed a 1st rounder and a recent lottery bust, seems like Markieff should have had some kind of value. I have no clue what kind of offers were out there, though, because no one really got traded.
I'm anticipating us going hard after Fred VanVleet and wouldn't be surprised if he ends up getting $20M+ per year from us or Toronto. Christian Wood also complicates things, because I believe he's a UFA this summer and because we signed him on a 1-year deal for the minimum we don't have any Bird Rights to go over the cap to sign him. We'd have to sign him into whatever space we have. If he continues to play at this level, I could see that yearly salary being somewhere in the $10-12M a year range.
