The blue chip ratio with Bud was really interesting. I know he’s always done it but I’ve come around to the realization that he’s right. Those 16 teams are the only ones with a real chance. It’s crazy how far in front OSU, Bama, and Georgia are of everyone else. https://www.thekeyplay.com/content/2019/august/8/blue-chip-ratio-2019
The Athletic announced 50 new podcasts to be rolled out over the next year. They also just got done with a lot of recruiting content for NSD. I feel like recruiting is the last needle mover they don’t have a handle on, so maybe Bud ends up there as part of a recruiting team?
Mentioned it during the last episode of the Nolecast (which I’m sure you all listen to). My bet is the Athletic.
The Athletic, as a recruiting expert, was my first thought regarding Bud’s move. After a bit of thinking I’m not so sure. To most of us his name is associated with cfb recruiting, but he also has a growing reputation in gambling circles. Wherever he is going the gambling aspect might be the focus, rather than the recruiting.
Sammon is a very good writer, produces thoughtful pieces, and had great insight and connection to Mullen and his staff, all the Florida fans are going to miss him being on our beat, I’d venture to say that he’s the only best writer we could really ever say that about maybe aside from Aschoff.
BREAKING: Bud Elliot takes over as Florida Gators beat writer. Gator fans subsequently log off the internet forever. College football fans rejoice.
I’ve followed Bud since he was a poster on Warchant and it’s cool that he turned that into a career. However, he’s kind of a dick. I got tired of his schtick a while ago. He might be an upgrade over our Athletic beat writer who is a recent college grad that has challenged fans on twitter to come up to the press box and fight him.
How could you leave out how he used to spam on here with all his graphs and encouraged Bricktop the white to troll Oklahoma fans with his Austin box zombie account
I will say the athletics coverage of KSU sports is hot garbage. I read it basically exclusively for chiefs and royals content
I believe Bud just got him to say the linebacker was the size of a safety. Bricktop let it evolve from there.
Didn't he also write an entire article questioning whether Bjorn Werner got fewer holding calls because he was white?
Believe it was just TN and then changed it to NolesNolesNoles or something after the Austin box zombie-gate blew up and he disappeared
he is a very opinionated person, as even some Noles have admitted he can act like a real condescending dick
sorta makes sense given he is a selfmade fanboy at heart rather than a "This is Why im Joining The Athletic" journalistic type
Vegas breathes a sigh of relief that he didn’t decide to go full time as a professional gambler and put them out of business.
My rivals screen name was Bud Elliot in 2007 until he asked me to change it because all I did was troll people.
Incorrect. It was because he played German soccer, where "flopping" or "selling" a foul was looked down upon. It was fucking art.
Werner was getting tackled by offensive linemen on the last drive against NC State. All time Jimbo special.
It's kind of live by the sword, die by the sword. The climate that allowed people without traditional journalism backgrounds to gain a massive free audience also made it to where their jobs aren't protected.
Haven’t listened yet but it seems like they are believe the ones that were furloughed are done at Vox. I assume the pod confirms that? I bet they could create their own CFB pay site and make some money but I feel like they won’t do that.
