Been on a nice lil heater the last month or so. Found a good local game in Charlotte recently, took down a couple of their tournaments and up a few bucks in cash. Chopped the Thursday tourney last week at Hollywood Casino in Columbus, and just wrapping up a nice +$500 cash session at Motor City Casino in Detroit (less $100 buy in for the tourney). Not keeping super close track of my ROI, but worked up a roll of about $2k organically starting with a $60 tourney buy in. Hoping to keep it going in time for the next WSOP Circuit at Harrah's Cherokee, NC in a few weeks. But also considering heading back to Cbus for a local series they are starting around the same time. Buy ins there are probably more fitting for bankroll management porpoises, more $100-$200ish vs $250+ in Cherokee ...

Photo evidence because idk what the equivalent for "screen shot life" is in terms of poker :idk:

Also dabbled in the round by round $1/$2 NLHE/PLO game they are running at MCC. Only was up for a few rounds before some hot action broke up the game, but it seems like a lot of fun. Capped buy ins at $300 kept things reasonable ...

Can tell how this session will go already. Arrive late for a small buy in tourney at Greektown Casino in Detroit. My fault for being late, had brunch with the fam before heading downtown. Still got here as level 2 is winding down, so no biggie (13k chips blinds 100-200). Upon buying in though come to realize they are on alternates and i am number 4. Only 24 entrants total. Is that weird to be using alternates in such a small tourney? Looks like they are playing 10 handed ... isn't the move usually to spread some players out and keep alternate seats available at going tables?

Doesn't help that the waitlist for 1/2 was 5 deep, so i figured the tourney would be quicker. They are opening up a new 1/2 table now :bang:

I guess they were exactly 20 which is a tough spot, but yeah, disappointing. They allowed me to turn the buy in back in though so i could play 1/2 instead, which was nice of them. Definitely prefer MCC but they allow table stakes at 1/2 which is neat ...

Also walked by the shitty bbq place dblplay1212 ate at when he was in town. Sorry you had to go through that my dude :ohdear:

So PokerStars in PA has me on tilt bad. I’m playing lower stakes than normal but my luck is just awful at the moment. Really has me second guessing everything. I’ve lost some monster hands when getting it in good.

Looking for some advice. Edited again..looks like pokertracker 4 is permitted. Does anyone use this or other HUD tools that they can suggest?

Sitting at 2/5 with $800ish on the button. Full table, only been sitting about 30 minutes. Sat with $500, won an early pot when I flopped a set.

Dealt KK. 3 calls, I bump to $25. 3 calls. Flop is 2, 3, 6 rainbow. Check to me. I bet $60 into a $100 pot. Two calls and then a bump to $265.

    What do you do?

While I'm in here, I will reiterate that the Commerce in LA is definitely where you want to go if you're looking for action in SoCal. It's like stepping into a time machine back to when everybody was horrible at poker. Sure there are some sharks lurking around, but you can identify these people fairly easily and avoid them. Had a Mexican guy sitting to my right dump $3k into a $500 cap $5/5 game in like 2 hours. Nonstop calling huge bets with hands like A8o and then trying to bluff when he missed.

Lost a few buyins myself despite getting it in ahead. Here is a brief sampler: Armenian guy on tilt gets stacked and rebuys for $300. Very next hand I look down at AA in position and 3-bet him to $80 after he opens to $25. He calls. Flop 288. I bet $100. He calls. Turn 2. I put him in for his remaining $120 and he snap calls with 26 suited. Fair enough. Few hours later I call a loose Chinese guy's 3-bet in position with T9 suited. So $120 to a flop of T97 rainbow. He leads $80 and I call. Turn J. He leads again for $150 and I jam on him for about $550 total. He hems and haws for a minute and ends up calling with AA asking if I have the straight. Before I can answer the river counterfeits me with a 7. So kicked in the balls a few times, also ran AK into AA for about $450, but the action is too good to complain.

Pokerstars online in PA is a freaking crapshoot. I am crushing tournaments and like the bounty builders they have. I then go and play $1/$2 or higher and getting killed. Getting it in good and people can’t fold AJ to AK for anything. For hands that should be 9:1 on the river I’m getting crushed.

slowed a bit online and went to play live. Sat at a $1/$2 table. in the first few hands i straddle and get 99. 5 callers around to me so I push it to $24. Two callers with one being BB. River is 8 high rainbow. BB checks, I bet $65, 3rd person folds. BB raised all in to $115. I call and before he turns over I asked if he had a set and then he shows KK. I sarcastically say well played. Lose the hand and like usual I start in a big hole.

fast forward about 2 hours later and I’m back to even. Get dealt AA twice in 5 hands...first lost the board ran out 4 cards to a flush I didn’t have. Easy fold for not much chips. Second one hurt a bit. Guy played 4d6d called me down pot sized bets with a flush draw and hits. Indian guy got me for about $250. Got some redemption later on him. Had pocket 2’s and I opened to $10 on the button. Two callers. flop comes J52 rainbow. Small stack with about $70 goes all in. He calls and I consider shoving. Think about it for a while and ask to see his stack. He’s got about $350 behind and I have him covered. I just call the $70. Turn 7..check check. River Q. He quickly jams and I snap call. He was so confused as he hit JQ 2 pair. That one felt pretty good.
Ended up well over $1k on the night

Saw the craziest hand in a while tonight while 7x'ing my first buy-in.

$5/5 with $500 cap 9-handed. Straight flush over nut flush over set over set. The damage was insane. Guy turned the straight flush same time as the nut flush got there. One set wisely got out of the way and the other was committed due to his stack. These dudes were in for $2000+ on the river (EDIT: they were in for $2000+ EACH) when the 4th club came. Guy with the nut flush was a young kid, and he was devastated as he should be. Losing 400BB+ in one hand in a 100BB cap game is sickening and very rare. Dude that won went from ~ $2k to ~$6k in two hands.

Over the year I've learned I play so much better when there's either good conversation at the table or I have something to watch on my phone. If I have nothing to watch and it's a dead table, I end up playing waaaaay too many hands. Played live last night and did well. Bought in $500, cashed $1150 at midnight. Buddy I work with was stuck about $200 when I left. Woke up to a 3am text from him where he cashed over $2600 lol.

I haven't. I've heard a lot of talk about it though. I've been playing live more lately. I'd 10 minutes from my office and I have some dead time a few days in the middle afternoon so I go over there once a week or so for 2-3 hours. I went yesterday afternoon and then came back to this office until about 7. A couple guys were heading over there and wife had plans and daughter was my mom's so I went back. Felt like a full degen showing up twice in one day.

Orange city is good. It’s a lot better than Daytona in my opinion. You have people there that will play anything so it’s just a matter of running good against them. Oxford downs outside the villages can have some good 2/5 games when they’re running. With all the retirees the 1/2 can be major OMC. Hard rock is still my favorite.

haha there was a 5-10 game here in Jax. $100 max buy lol. 9 of us would sit and had an agreement we'd all shove for $99 a hand and then let someone go all in for $100 and let them take it down. We'd do that until everyone had $1k in front of them and then we'd play.

Our table last night came close after I left.

    Buddy - 10/10
    Player 1 - 10/J hearts
    Players 2 - 5/6 hearts

Flop was 8h/9h/10s hearts. Need 7h to hit both straight flushes but it came brick brick. At least my buddy's set held up.
