Probably a lazy way out for a script writer. “This episode is boring, let’s hit them with a crazy scene that is just a dream and won’t effect the plot.”
It triggered me that the fucking homicide detective didn't immediately recognize the similarities between his wife's drawing and the drawing that the kid made at the special meeting that was set up just so the kid could tell them all about the creeper in the hoodie.
So we have 2 different strains of this thing? The one that completely duplicates you and the weird neck acne?
I think the neck stuff is how it controls people, and is then able to become the other version of them.
I am going to be really annoyed if we waste 2 episodes with Holly trying to convince everyone that this thing is real. I'm not sure what other evidence they need.
I was guessing the scratch was to get some DNA to replicate you Are there instances of neck rash folks being replicated? Think that is a separate hustle of his
I'm still irritated that homicide detective guy didn't even blink at the similarities between her sketch and the kid's sketch from like 2 day previous. WTF
I think he absolutely knew it and was troubled by it but trying to keep things in reality as he knows it
So i still dont understand why they focused on that guy from the cemetary last week. That was Hofstadters friend right? I dont get why they showed him pulling the gun on that guy and committing suicide my cop. Was it just so Holly would get stuck in the traffic? Im so confused by that episode.
Listening to The Watch and Greenwald said he was disappointed Holly didnt go all the way w the biggest conspiracy - why the hell do none of these people in Georgia have southern accents
The big twist at the end is going to be everyone living happily ever after because they’re actually in Ohio.
He used to date the older half sister of the murdered twin girls. He has the rash which is one of the missing pieces as to how the outsider accomplished certain things if it’s in a vulnerable position. It also allows her to realize she’s fucked right now with this cop and there’s going to be a great exposition dump about what he’s dealing with. All of those story beats are critical for Holly to solve the mystery.
So the outsider controlling that dude and having him commit suicide by cop was just filler? Nothing substantial to the story? I guess im reading too much into it then since she was stuck in traffic cause of those actions. Which lead to her breaking down which lead to the bus ride.
Not filler. She looked back through her pics from the cemetery, saw the boils on his neck and later postulated at the Anderson house that the outsider may be controlling someone to do its bidding. It wasn’t until the cop driving her to the farmhouse where it all clicked for her once he leaned over and she saw his boils. It’s literally all in service of the plot to help her piece her theory together.
My take - the outsider itself likes to do the child killing, so it chooses a target to replicate (whom it scratches) to accomplish this In parallel it chooses someone connected to its target (via the neck rash) to manipulate circumstances around the target which drives the surrounding ripple deaths, both to pave the way and clean up the mess as it morphs into its next victim/body. Interesting that it has two cycles and at least two rash victims going on simultaneously as the brother and the cop were both being manipulated at the same time (one to prep, one to clean up)
It’s a standard horror trope in vampire lore. They always have a familiar to do their bidding, to protect them, to be active whenever their vulnerable. The outsider just fucks them up with visions since it can’t physically be present. I wonder if the vast majority of times we’ve seen the outsider, has it been a projection....where is the physical body before it fully transforms?
Same here. This is a series that would have benefited from an all-at-once release like Netflix. Week to week...it's losing me.
Yeah it’s very hard to make a legit serial that deals with paranormal/horror stuff and have it keep its momentum.
I went into this expecting the middle episodes to have some lag and not keep me entertained. Seems that’s the case with a lot of shows these days. Expecting it to pick up towards the end.
It has definitely slowed down some but I'm still entertained and looking forward to seeing it each week
They needed to keep Terry around a bit longer. The tension between Bateman & Mendelsohn was great. The Holly/Jack dynamic is already stale and the story needs to move along ASAP to get out of this rut
Binged all 7episodes last night. Would have watched 3 more if they were available. Episode 7 felt like it drug out / was more filler than moving along the story. Up until then the pacing was great for me. Ralph doing a good job playing the stubborn cop. His unnamed therapist looks like a Pat. Hopefully his name is Pat. Not Patrick. Pat. Glory is a poor mans Téa Leoni. Her explosion during the big meeting was pretty meh. Hollys character and acting is awesome. Actually enjoy the detective fighting the urge to just be the Vampiregangers meat puppet Quote of the show: “I have the strength of ten thousand because my heart is pure”
I’d say an equally puzzling aspect of the show is how a rural Georgia strip club has the kind of talent they have.
