Outside of a blazing 6 week stretch last year the power play has been awful for two nearly two seasons.
Idk much about Addison but it’s a late first rounder and a dude that’s a warm body who you probably won’t resign. Seems like a pretty good deal for the Pens. Unless Addison is a high ceiling prospect that im ignorant about. Zucker isn’t even a rental. Imo this is a really good deal
That's in part do to the fact that the Pens system is weak/shallow and he's one of the 3 prospects likely to end up worth a shit. Addison was their 2nd round pick back in '18 but apparently has been impressing in the WHL. Prob not a top pairing guy but many seem to think he'll end up a top 4/PP QB. Franchise is in win now mode so it doesn't really matter.
Addison has been doing really well in the lower levels. Pens gave up a shit ton. Still better than giving up Poulin or Legare but damn. oh well, at least McCann can go back to the 3rd line. Pittsburgh has been trying to get Zucker since the offseason. He was part of the deal that Kessel nixed.
Sucks to see Zucker go, but like the deal for the Wild. Certainly a better return for Zucker for this team than Phil Kessel would have been. Zucker should do well for the Penguins, and for their needs, it should be a good move for them as well. Things were definitely trending downward between Zucker and Boudreau, plus we needed to open up a top 6 forward spot for Kaprizov next season, and his spot made the most sense.
Reason why it is Zucker is he was the only wing among the top-six forwards that we had reason and opportunity to move. Parise and Zuccarello have no move clauses, so even if a team wanted to take on those contracts (which they wouldn't), Parise/Zuccarello would shut it down anyways. Fiala is the other wing in the top-six, and he's finally shown signs of life, so he's the type of younger player the team wants to keep around. One of those four had to be gone by the start of next season to create a spot for Kaprizov.
This could end up a good deal for Pittsburgh but ridiculous bashing Minnesota for trading a guy with ok production making 5.5 million for a first and a decent prospect.
JGP would be a perfect fit. A third line C that can fill in on the 2 line, is a good PK’er and plays a strong 200 foot game. Is also strong in a shutting down role.

Lightning depth really being tested right now with Mcdonagh, Stamkos, Cirelli, and Kucherov hurt in the past week.
The Bolts are really starting to get hammered with injuries. Stamkos and McDonagh didn’t play tonight and Kucherov and Cirelli left the game
Great last 1:30 of the Flyers/NYI game Flyers tie it up finally but then give up a bomb from the line
Blackhawks against a bad Winnipeg PK unit: 0-for-3, give up a short handed goal Blackhawks against a record-setting Edmonton PP unit: scores a shorthanded goal Solution: If the other team ever commits a penalty, punch them in the face
