Listening to Iger pod. He calls Bill out on this and Bill backs down big time. https://www.businessinsider.com/bill-simmons-rips-bob-iger-espn-suspension-2016-1 also Bill asks a terrible question and Iger nicely tells him he has no idea what he is asking about. It was an awful question. He was trying to ask about ESPN being late to streaming and the ESPN+ model but just asks about being late.
I enjoyed Ben Thompson but could not hit stop fast enough as soon as he says “ok we’re gonna call my buddy Jacko...”
Iger rarely missteps. He's not going on Simmons' pod without being 100% prepared. Someone like Simmons is like a kindergartner interviewing him.
Never dawned on me that they would be in a shit ton of trouble for what they did to that library. Pretty obvious now that I think about it.
I listen to about 1/3 of the Bill podcasts that most of you do so I find that pretty funny. Its probably been 8 months since I even listened to JackO mainly because I couldnt careless about what the Sox and Yankees are up too.
There's no group with a less perceptive outlook on the American political landscape than a never Trump Republican. Get JackO the fuck out of here.
Let me boil down the core never Trump Republican belief to its essence: "I like LITERALLY EVERYTHING he's done in office, but i disapprove of his social media usage."
And every single one of them is living in a fantasy land. This administration has been the wildest conservative fever dream since day one, but because he's mean to people on Twitter, they want to pretend like they don't like everything that's happening.
I’m sure the guy whose personality is based around cosplaying a boomer and his GOP buddies are very principled people
I know plenty that dont feel that way. Broad generalizations just aren't fair on either side to me. JackO seems like a nice guy who has become a successful lawyer and has some kids. He might be a good father and husband. He might not. I dont like to assume how he is one way or another based on his political leanings.
If those people can point to 2 things this administration has accomplished that they don't like, then they aren't fucking Republicans and they should be campaigning for mayor Pete, if they could tolerate voting for such a sexual deviant.
JackO is a jackass because he’s not well informed about subjects he fires off hot takes about, the fact he’s GOP just means he’s a jackass AND an asshole
He's probably nice to his kids though, so him cheering on hundreds of thousands of kids he doesn't know losing health insurance since 2016 is not a problem.
All of my Republican friends are pro-gay rights. I dont think that is a drawback for them. I like a lot of his resume. He's very well educated and I like his military background. I think he's a tad young as he's the same age as me but think his hard stance on abortion and the electoral college would be a deterrent for some. He's definitely more appealing than Hillary, Bernie and Biden are. Think he has a real chance.
Like, this isn't that hard. One party works to constantly strip rights from the LGBT community. You don't get to vote for that party then say you support the gay community. It doesn't work that way. This should be completely obvious
Sure they would. It’s not an all or nothing situation. Are you friends or come in contact with any Republicans?
I live in fucking Oklahoma, what do you think. We're all either Republicans or lapsed Republicans here. Your party only has political viability because its intense anti-LGBT stance has made the entire American Christian community rabid GOP fanatics. Voting GOP and being against LGBT rights are functionally inseparable, no matter how much you like to pretend you're only voting to hurt poor people.
You think because someone votes Republican they hate minorities? If you do, I'm sorry you feel that way but I'm not going down that route on this board or especially this thread. I have helped derail enough today and I'm pretty sure most are tired of reading about it.
When you don’t think about things that don’t directly impact you, or have empathy in general, it’s very easy to vote Republican.
Wesley’s idea for making versions today with casts of all white people, all black people, etc. was really interesting to me. I hadn’t thought of doing something similar in terms of casting but with ideas of 2020 in a movie and what it would mean.
