Wife and me did a little blind taste test for some v-day fun. Larceny BP, ECBP B519, and Old Grand dad. Both of us independently ranked the EC first followed by the old grand dad. The Larceny I still think is decent but what stuck out is how much the old grand dad holds up, especially for a bottle half the price of the EC.

I’ve tried the B519 now three different times and I just can’t get into it. I’m going to let it sit for a while.

Add a few drops of water, it will really open up. Maybe you already do that, but I'd highly recommend it. I usually take a sip of my barrel proof bourbons at full strength to get my taste buds adjusted (read: killed), and then add a few drops of water. So many more flavors come out.

Picked up a bottle of Michters 10 year rye this morning. I definitely overpaid, but not awful compared to what I’ve seen. $179 and talked him down from $275. I’m thinking about paying secondary on Blantons straight from the barrel. Has anyone tried it before? Thoughts?

How’s EHT Rye? I’m developing my taste for the higher-rye bourbons and rye whiskies, just not sure how I feel about overpaying at $100 for the EHT product when I’m perfectly content with Sazerac, OF rye, and WFE being all well below that price.

Wish you said something yesterday. Was online in Pa for $70

I know another local store that has it though. Probably going this week and should be about same price. Let me know if you want me to get it for you.

Appreciate the offer, but after thinking about it I’m going to pass. Still able to find Sazerac and Old Forester ($30 liter don’t mind if I do) and they’re good enough for my rye palate.

    For now...

I find myself wanting to love it but there is something throwing it off for me. Honestly I like Pikesville, and even Michters better.

Should I have bought Willet Pot Still? It was all over Kentucky but the prices seemed high ranged from $48-90 for 750 and saw a 1.75 for $99

NYGator I'm having a pour of the CM10.

pre water drops: nose was surprisingly smooth, not as hot as I anticipated. Taste was again surprisingly smooth with a faint taste of apple

post dilution: more candied fruit notes on the nose with hints of vanilla. The finish has jolly rancher apple and light cinnamon.

Really good stuff but I’m also a fan of Alabama style whiskey as it is. I could only imagine how that 11 fares in comparison

Keef Degausser and Love Tractor (not sure who else is in the Atlanta area,) if you're interested in driving to Kennesaw I'll put together a bourbon tasting night for us one of these weeks.

I'm full up with work and doing my MBA right now, but if there's interest I'll definitely plan something for us in early March. I'll sell it to Mrs. Tamland as a doggy play date if you want to bring your good boys over.

Would make for a nice looking infinity bottle.

I've contemplated starting one, but A) I don't like the idea of losing my last 1-2oz into a bottle that B) I've personally mixed and will definitely taste like alcoholic corn asshole, thus reminding me why I pay master distillers to mix batches.
