Gophers pick up 2 pts with a shoot out victory. Tied with PSU for 1st for the time being (with 1 additional game remaining on the schedule). Edit: PSU lost so Minnesota and PSU are tied in points and Minnesota has 2 more games to play.
Few weeks to go, but teams are starting to lock themselves in to the tournament and in some cases, into their seeds as well. Teams that are 100% in the tournament 1.University of North Dakota-98% chance to be #1 overall 2.Minnesota St.-Mankato-77% chance to be #2 overall. 3.Cornell-69% chance to be #3 overall 4.University of Minnesota-Duluth-likely seeded 4 to 6 5.Denver-likely seeded 4 to 7 Almost there. Would take a collapse and several upsets in conference tournaments to not be in the field. 6.Boston College-likely be seeded 4 to 8 7.Clarkson-likely to be seeded 5 to 9 Sitting in a pretty comfortable spot. would need to finish poorly and have some conference tournament upsets to miss out. 8. Massachusetts-likely between 6 and 11 9. Arizona State-likely between 7 and 12 10. Northeastern-likely between 6 and 13 11. Penn State-likely between 7 and 14 AIC, Sacred Heart, or RIT will get one spot Which leaves 4 spots available Bemidji State-67% likelihood to make it...in if season ended today Ohio State-56%--in if season ended today Maine-44%--in if season ended today Minnesota-46%--in as B10 champ if season ended today Providence-41% Mass-Lowell-36%--1st team on bubble currently Quinnipiac-35% Western Michigan-27%
Impressive. Since Jan 1, Michigan 8-1-1 (SOW), Minnesota 7-2-1 (SOW). If you go back one additional week the Gophers have a Mariucci Classic Championship with a win over SCSU and Michigan has a runner-up in the Great Lakes Invitational. There is a fair chance the B1G title is at stake in the last weekend when Michigan comes to Dinkytown.
I'm just going to leave this here. https://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id...ed-heat-check-center-american-hockey-universe Spoiler Is there a center of the center of the hockey universe? Consider this: USA Hockey says that the Twin Cities market pulled 10,922 of its total participants in 2018-19 from a region that includes Bloomington (estimated population 85,934), Eden Prairie (64,952) and a little, rather wealthy place ($99,295 median household income, per the U.S. Census Bureau) called Edina (54,791). No one has captured more Minnesota Tier 1 boys' state hockey championships than Edina, with 13. They also lost three times in the title game, and finished third three times. Edina also has won the Class AA girls' hockey title for three straight seasons. Among the notable Edina High School alumni: Anders Lee and Kieffer Bellows of the New York Islanders; former Montreal Canadiens player Bill Nyrop; former NHL player Paul Ranheim; and former NHL executive Brian Burke. "In the Twin Cities, it might be Edina," said Tom Chorske, a Minneapolis-born former NHL player who's now an analyst for Fox Sports North. "They win a lot at youth level and produce a lot of college players. A lot of Wild players live in Edina and their little kids are playing there." So there you have it: Edina, Minnesota. The center of the center of the hockey universe in the United States. ...Edina also has 6 players on the current Gopher roster and perhaps its most famous alum
Tyler Madden might be out till mid-March with a hand injury. Didn't play in Northeastern's 3-2 home loss to BC last night Fffff
Minnesota can still win it. I didn’t see Notre Dame sweeping at Michigan though so that is definitely a miss.
Northeastern needs to take care of business in Burlington this weekend. Two games up there before a split series in Boston with the Terriers Huskies suffered a 10-1 L in Chestnut Hill Saturday after dropping that close one at Matthews Arena on Friday thankfully Vermont is 3-22-6 and NU should be able to bounce back from that with no problems. Like, WTF guys, get your shit together. 0-17-4 in Hockey East play
Michigan and Minnesota going to OT. If Minnesota picks up 1 point or fewer, PSU clinches the 1 seed. If Minnesota wins or gets 2, it comes down to tomorrow night.
Michigan wins the shoot-out and picks up 2 points. Minnesota gets 1. Minnesota moves in to 2nd and can claim a share of the title with a win tomorrow but PSU has claimed at least a share of the title and clinched the one seed. Standings/tie-breakers for tomorrow (home ice for top 4): Penn State 41 pts. Clinched 1 seed. Minnesota 38 pts. Can finish anywhere from 2-5. Would lose tie breaker to Ohio State, Michigan & Notre Dame. Ohio State 37 pts. Can finish 2-6. Would win tie breaker vs. Minnesota, Michigan or Notre Dame, would lose to MSU. Michigan 35 pts. Can finish 2-6. Would win a tie breaker with Minnesota and Notre Dame if they take 3 pts tomorrow. Notre Dame 35 pts. Can finish 2-6. Michigan State 34 pts. Can finish 3-6. Wisconsin sucks. Schedule (CT aka God's Time): Michigan @ Minnesota (5:00) MSU @ Notre Dame (5:00) Wisconsin @ OSU (8:00)
I’m not gonna say anything bad about the Gophs cuz they have a great city with amazing beer and food.
Just got back home from watching UND wrap up the Penrose Cup for winning their 3rd Regular Season NCHC Championship in 7 years in College Hockeys toughest league. Packed house to send off the Seniors as UND finishes with an 18-1 home record this season.
I thought this was funny. The left is one of the zip codes there (w/ 50th & France). Looks like lots of old people living on accumulated savings.
Now it really hits home https://www.chicagotribune.com/spor...dPjAfivetd1Pm7y_o6HtvN1vjkBu3PQPX_41ux_ftLunQ Illinois was a month away from officially adding an ice hockey program. That sucks about Illinois. They just replayed the 1993 NCAA title game here in Maine. Incredible team. 42-1-2. Unreal. A documentary of the season, "Out of the Woods", is on youtube:
