For a kid's show they aren't bad. They probably could've cut that Droid story Arc with Gregor to two episodes though.
maybe it's because I don't have kids, but I judge TCW and Rebels as an adult who knows he is watching a kids show. Some episodes are too silly for me, like the episode where they spend the entire time chasing 3 fruit all over the city, but I can see how a kid wouldn't mind it.
Same. I watched it understanding that I wasn’t the intended audience. So when Ezra is a whiny bitch like all the time, I understand that he is that way because he is supposed to be the stand in for the kid audience and probably doesn’t seem like a whiny bitch to them Spoiler he still is and they probably are too
I don't have any either and yeah some of it is easy to skip past like that episode. The show is still better than 80's cartoons that reused the same footage over and over. Looking at you He-Man.
Very much so, clone wars anakin actually makes you understand why he was susceptible to his eventual fall and even feel sorry for him.
couldn’t agree more with this and Clone Wars vs Prequels + Mandalorian vs Sequels really underscore just how much the future of Star Wars should be on the living room screen
disagree. Rogue 1 was fantastic. If Mandalorian was episodes 1-2-3-7-8 cut into a 2.5 hour movie, it would have been a massive hit. Star Wars can absolutely be a feature film franchise, but it needs someone with true vision at the top leading it. Unless feige wants to take up that mantle, IMO, it should be Filoni.
I think there is still a place for Star Wars films. But they need to have more substance and less spectacle.
I’ve just accepted that an extended multiple hour episodic format is a naturally much more effective storytelling vehicle than a single 1.5-2.5 hr movie
It needs an overarching story. I re-watched Infinity War and EndGame this week. Both movies are packed with spectacle and fan service. I mean there was a whole fight sequence where every female hero teams up to kick ass for a good 2 minutes straight. It was thinly a veiled women's empowerment sequence that added nothing to the movie, but was guaranteed to get them a pat on the back from the audience and media. Nobody cares about all the fan service in Marvel movies because there is enough compelling story around it that the obvious fan service doesn't feel like the entire movie. Could you imagine if RoS had shoehorned a fight sequence that was just Rey, Rose, Maz, and Leia kicking ass? It would have been shredded as forced even though it was just as forced as the Avengers one because the story around it sucked.
That's not debatable. Streaming services and HBO are essentially giving us 5-10 hour movies that we can watch at our own pace. It's outstanding.
This is a lot easier said than done. We’d all like Hollywood to work in a certain way, but it just doesn’t anymore. Disney won’t be outsourcing production to A24 anytime soon.
Piggy backing this, who ITT reads/buys/follows the comic book stories? Looking for a group to discuss with
Man, the Emperor orchestrating the whole ordeal leading to Ahsoka leaving the Order knowing it would crush Anakin and then seeing the look on Yoda’s face when he sees Anakin’s reaction. 1000 times better than anything in the prequels.
she should have been revealed as the seventh sister in rebels. Would have made a whole new layer to ahsoka’s arc
Amazing immersive experience. But $30 for a 15 minute VR experience is rough. Absolutely worth doing once. Not sure I’d do it again unless we had someone who had never done it before in our group.
From what I understand, it wasn’t an active thing they planed on doing. Fans kept saying they wanted that to be him and the story group didn’t have a problem with it so they made it canon.
So I've never reallllly watched Clone Wars and am going through using this watch list... loved it all so far except for Mortis... which was just, weird?
Took the kids a few years ago, worth doing at least once if you or your little ones are Star Wars fans.
Morris, the on-screen pull between light and dark in Anakin’s soul? Swelling tones of the imperial march? Peak CW.
Nelson i don’t even think you’ve posted about canon now being that someone caught Luke’s blue saber when it flew away in ESB
Been watching the "essential episodes" for TCW. Really curious why I needed to watch 4 episodes about the Geonosian queen using mind control worms.
Because Bariss is still all fucked up when she is behind the bombing that gets Ahsoka kicked out of the order. Barely got a psych eval after the brain worms.
Do they link those two events? Obviously not at the Bariss turn part yet and haven't seen those episodes in at least 4 years.
No, I'm playing off of Binge Mode, Jason is a big Bariss-apologist. Themes of mind control and studying the brain worms might be relevant to the brainwashing of the clones for O66, though?
naw, that was a bio-microchip that was implanted in their brain at birth. Maybe Palpy got the idea from the Geonosians, but I don't see a direct link.
Binge Mode is super knowledgable but good lord it’s like the audio equivalent of eating an entire pack of pixy stix
especially at 1.5 speed. Quick Binge mode complaint as I just finished the ROS podcasts. Them calling the Han cameo fan service was so annoying. It felt obvious as hell that they had no choice but to use Han because Carrie Fischer had passed away and couldn't do the scene. RoS was supposed to be her movie, of course it was supposed to be her who turned Kylo, but there was no other option than Han after she died.
