I saw that but it seems suspect that another crew would say he's awake when his own crew doesn't know anything

 

My brother was a firefighter/medic at Daytona for 10+ years. Nascar will not announce a death at the track if that is what it is. His longtime partner was one of the first on scene for Dale Earnhardt and it scars him to this day. This is not looking good.

Yep. That hit to the driver side window while he was upside down was tough.

 

If he survived that hit on the drivers side it will be a miracle. Integrity of the frame was compromised and then he takes a direct impact at close to 200 mph.

Jeff Gordon was on the verge of tears and I’m assuming all he’d seen was replays. Very reminiscent of the post races coverage when Dale Sr passed.

Got a buddy who works some in nascar. Word is that he is alive but in critical condition.

I don’t watch nascar, but was that a dirty maneuver by whatever guy caused the crash?

 

Damn that Lajoie hit did a lot of damage to top of drivers compartment

No, he had a run, got pushed, Newman blocked as he was moving. Just the worst case scenario for that type of track

Not what I’d call dirty. It was the same run and bump draft that’s been going on all week, it just happened at the exact right moment that Newman made a move up. Perfect storm.

 

It was a video of them doing CPR on Newman. Deleted now

Ya Blaney went low and as soon as he moved up Newnan moved up to block and just put their corners out of sync. I think blaney would have moved up further if not for hamlin, but just the worst case scenario heading into tri oval

 

It was video from the stands when they pulled him out. They were doing CPR.

Newman’s hit into the wall was hard, going on roof not bad but that second hit was probably to the worst possible place and that car was going 190+

yeah the last hit is the concern for me. The other stuff people walk away from all the time

 

Take that CPR report with a grain of salt. Any EMT/paramedic trained properly would be on the stretcher performing it. Not walking alongside

 

It's been an hour with no updates.

 

God i in hope Newman is ok he’s my last tie to NASCAR

Hard to imagine he survived that crash. Really sad.

 

You can tell the people just trying to insert themselves into it just by those kinds of comments. It was a hard hit but his crash looked pretty standard.

And as bad as Newmans crash looked in real time it still wasnt terrible until you saw it slowed down and realized how bad that 2nd hit was.

 

If he is dead the delay is making sure anyone who needs to know gets told first. If he’s still in limbo then there just isn’t any news to give as they’re still working on him. Doubt he’s stable or they’d say that.
