Where are we at right now with Pierce? Do the smarter basketball people than me itt still like him? He's supposed to be a good defensive coach I thought, but my feeling is all these late loses (like last night to the Rockets) where they can't get any stops is more of a roster issue than coaching. Really really hope we get a top 3 draft pick in the lottery at this point.
I don't think Lloyd is a bad coach. I think the first 2 months of the season were a disaster. Huerter and Reddish had no off-season development time, JC gets suspended, Huerter misses 11 games, Trae missed a few games, and every off-season move we made was an on-court disaster (Evan Turner, losing Dedmon, etc) I hope those moves help us build a better roster in the next 16 months. I do hope we improve over the next few months. Our schedule in March is a joke...if we can't push the 30 win mark with a healthy core, I'll be upset. Hopefully with cap room and a high lottery pick we can make a play off push next year
Can anyone tell me why we let Dedmon walk again? A floor spacing 5 who isn’t shit on D seems like exactly what we need
5-7 in our last 12. Big improvements everywhere. Rough stretch upcoming but a soft mid February to March. biggest thing IMO is health. If everyone stays healthy there can be progress in the offseason. Reddish and Huerter having an off-season where they aren’t in the mend will be huge for them. 2nd biggest thing is finding a C that can shoot 3s, and defend bigs.
Yeah I just turned the game on, I honestly thought I was watching the all-star game for a second when I saw the score. The hell is going on?
Please the level of defense was even less than that of an All-Star game because an All-Star roster would have had 200
Going to the game tonight. Didn't go to one last year. Anywhere I can park for free within a 15 walk of State Farm?
Fun game tonight. Trae and Collins are what we thought they are, and Huerter/Hunter/Reddish keep coming along
I go back and forth on Hunter and Reddish. I feel like both have relatively low ceilings, but I think both can be very useful as elite defenders that can get 10-12 a night. That would be okay. Most people have already written off Reddish but he's still just so young to make that call. He's not that bad.
hunter and huerter have high floors with lower ceilings imo. They are both going to be 40% from 3. Hunter can defend and Huerter is a good secondary ball handler. Huerter could be an elite 6th man on a team with more depth. reddish has top 5 defensive wing potential and his 3 pt shot is coming around. I’m really bullish on his upside. yep, his passing and ability to draw fouls is mind blowing. He didn’t shoot great last night but his assists and 18/20 from the line are bonkers....and his ability to facilitate for others has an exponential impact on his teammates
Don’t forget Nene! Haha but seriously, feel like we won this trade big time. Capela and Collins present match up problems and Capela greatly improves our defense.
Gave up Evan Turner as well but he was rendered useless when we got Teague and Goodwin became a thing.
Yeah that trade was a no brainer for what we gave up. not sure how Capela and Collins fit together but at least I don’t have to see Damian Jones get smashed on the glass and Capela as a rim runner for Trae will be fun. 2020 June / July is hugely important for Shlenk. He needs to improve the roster, so I’m glad we kept our 1 which will be relatively high and he has flexibility with cap and assets
Got Dedmon back for Len and Parker. if he can get close to his 3 point numbers from last year, I can’t love what we’ve done with our front court anymore
What I like most about the Capela trade is that it fills out that 1-5 core and lets us take BPA with that top pick.
Everything dependent on the growth of the young wings but man it’s hard not to like how Shlenk is upgrading spots while not killing our cap
Seems to me like the strategy is: - Use non-core pieces to acquire pieces at the one position where we don't have a core player - Let those guys duke it out for a spot in the core - Sell off or let walk those guys who we don't see as part of the future ??????? Profit
Don’t see Skal getting much run when Capela is healthy. love the line up flexibility we have to tinker with down the stretch. Dedmon and John play well together. really excited for the future.
Frustrating 4th quarter defensively. seeing how bad RJB and Knox were, it makes you grateful for Shlenks hit rate.
