These watch manufacturers are such pricks. "Let's add a new color to the bezel, make it a LE and let these obsessed fanboys pay 50% more"
I don’t want the watch for myself & afraid I’ll have difficulty selling in secondary... otherwise it would already be in my hotel safe
Very unique designs which is admirable in this day and age. Believe they primarily use ETA base movements which you can't go wrong with. If you love it I would go for it.
Lol I can't believe this shit. My girlfriend, who has been my biggest critic when it comes to my watch obsession, just had a watch delivered to me as a Valentine's gift. She just left on a 3 month volunteer trip. Unreal. I'll post pics later.
Ok, so yes this was a gift. Yes, it was a very, very nice gift, but there is a backstory that I won't get into that makes sense why I would get a gift of this magnitude. Part of the backstory is that she Indian gived (gave?) the Tag Heuer Carrera that belonged to her father, which I didn't care about at all, so I had no chronograph. We were in Miami a few weeks ago and she forces me to have lunch with a friend of hers who is a jeweler down there under the guise of her wanting me to talk to him about what she should get as her first watch. Him and I got into discussing mens watches and I thought absolutely nothing of it. I mentioned how my next purchase would likely be a chronograph and that a Ceramic Daytona is one of my grails, but I was realistically looking into a Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional or an El Primero in the next couple years. She left for 3 months yesterday and sends me a FedEx tracking number that was due to arrive this morning. I opened up the package and I saw a Zenith box and I practically shit my pants. I do believe it is my favorite watch.
I appreciate the kind sentiments, gentlemen but there is more to the backstory than I mentioned above. This was like a lifelong lottery player that has lost a net of $100k winning $10k on a scratch off. Don't give her too much credit.
I feel like receiving a $5k Valentine's gift in the dating phase has bad omens for anything beyond. But nice watch and eat Arby's
Just tried this on in a watch store and didn’t even look at IWC’s before the sales guy pointed it out. Beautiful watch. I’m down to this and a Black Bay.
I hate all of you in this thread because I want new watches (plural). But Imm exceedingly grateful to have a pencil wrist so my options are limited. Keeps me down under 10 watches I can wear and look good in that I want.
Lovely watch. I don't like the factory steel bracelet, but it would look great on leather of many colors. 40mm diameter, 11mm thick, 50mm lug to lug. Very good versatile dimensions. Could be worn as a dress piece as well as casual wear.
I've learned that lug to lug height is really the most crucial measurement when deciding if a watch will be wearable on your wrist. 50mm is my limit. I now have 2 watches with 50mm lug to lug and they both wear well, but that is the limit.
I’m thinking 40 mm is my largest option. Going to a few boutiques in a couple weeks while my wife is out of town to try some on.
I’d like to pick up a white-face dress watch and have been looking at some used models (sub $1,000.) Thoughts or any of these you’d avoid? I am such a Seiko fan, so I’ve been drawn to those listing as well but I keep coming back to the KS. I just have no idea what the value of that watch is and whether or not $315 is a good price. Doesn’t seem like it includes the original strap, which is okay given what I’d use it for. Just need to pick up a dressier band from crown and buckle for it.
I like that one too, but I'm worried it'll be worth the purchase price of one of the Seikos in another year or two.
Unless you plan on unloading it, don’t worry about that. Buy watches because you like them and enjoy having them in your collection. One of the biggest things I see are people eho don’t love the watches they buy, and then never use them. You don’t need a piece for every situation, so get a few pieces and enjoy them often. Unless you have boatloads of cash to spend and amass a 50+ piece collection.
Absolutely. Most quality watches hold their value but just like most things in life spend money on what you enjoy.
I would take a look at this I have the blue dial version and wear it as often as my Rolex/Tudor/JLC. The dial is incredible for the price point.
Even the staunchest of the Seiko fanboys are getting upset with the brand. I watched a video on the new Alpinists and people were killing them in the comments. I'm sorry, but you can't charge $750 for a watch that doesn't even fucking hack.
So, doing a deeper dive on this guy, it’s pretty cool. It was a limited release and the guy is selling it with the complete kit of box papers etc. I’d still need to drop another $40+ on a band. The KS definitely has history being >50y old, but it’s nowhere near the condition of the Fuyuwhatever listing. Decisions decisions.
