During my tempo run today I logged a 7:46 mile during some segment. That means if we ran together that I might be able to see Fecta on a very clear day on a straight path in the far distance.
Reminds me of my QM last year. I ran better than anticipated and felt great. Due to some flooding, the HM was 2 laps of the course instead of an extended. The winner of the HM (and 2nd, 3rd) lapped me. Depressing, but I still was happy with my run.
A warm 35 out today. First weekend day without snow in a while. Took a diff route from normal. Was a nice 4 miles overall. Will do again tomorrow.
Almost 50 where I’m at. Bout to run and I am very excited. Hasn’t been this nice for a run in months.
Went ten. Was awesome, outside of some leftover snow under bridges along the path. 8:45 pace with my fastest miles, including an 8:14 to finish, coming in the second half.
Wish I could lose 20 lbs to get me under 180 (I’m 198ish now), I’m consistently under 9:00 min and occasionally get under 8:00 on a good day. Losing the extra weight would help leaps and blounds to get where I want to be, consistently under 8.
I’ve just gotten comfortable knowing I won’t consistently be under 8 ever. Just too difficult at a comfortable weight around 190. And I like to drink good beer.
You will but unfortunately it takes time. It took me probably 6 months from starting running to run 3 in under 30 minutes. It’s taken me years to consistently get under 9:00 and another year to occasionally get under 8:00.
Sliced another 16 seconds off my half marathon PR today, in a race I didn't know about until a week and a half ago; I didn't decide to run it until Wednesday morning.
My problem is allergies and asthma now. When I was younger, I was crushing 7:00 miles. Add in my age, and breaking 11:00 now and down to 10:00 would be amazing.
Nah, I've switched entirely to trails. She tore her ACL last fall and had surgery in December so is just now on the mend.
I know the feeling. I had back surgery in 2018 and also dealing with major sinus issues. Have an ent appt Wednesday to run test. I feel like I’m only breathing out of one nostril and only 20% of that nostril. Used to do 6 min regularly. Now I’m just happy to stay around a 10 min mile. I’m at least hoping I figure something out with the sinuses. So damn tired of getting gased a mile in bc I can’t breathe.
Gatorade gummies are cool. Mostly gel packs and usually just try different types don’t have a specific brand.
decided to up to 4 days a week rather than the 3 days required by the couch to 10k app. went really well as my cardio is getting better and I'm starting to lose more weight. tonights workout was 10 min run, 3 min walk and 10 min run. my pace was between 14:20 and 15:00
Did 6x400 hills today. First workout like that since I ran track and cross country in HS. Did not enjoy it but my pace was solid, considering I didn't know exactly how fast to run them/how tired I'd be.
Did 90 minutes today: First 75% at a ~10:00 mile. Final 25% at race pace which ended up around 7:45 until I finished up a hill going home which pushed it above 8:00 for the final couple minutes. Great run.
Ran for an hour today to see how far I could get, ended up with 7.4 so about an 8’11” pace. Getting better
Also I experienced my first real nipple chafing at about mile 6. Anyone have tape they recommend or something?
I just use body glide. Never had a real issue when using it. But I also don’t skimp on the quality of shirts. I have specific shirts in which I won’t run more than 3 miles.
yeah I was using a nice dry fit shirt that I’ve never had issues with, 7 miles is the most I’ve ever ran straight so my body wasn’t quite used to it yet
Ran my fastest mile today I think....7:30. Was warmer today in the hellhole known as Ohio, 40 degrees. My wife was out and about and said “you won’t need a stocking hat” was cursing her the 1st mile but I think it helped not feeling like I was overheating like usual from having to wear my warm gear.
Guys, it’s happenning - I’ve dropped from a 12 min/mile down to 10:30/mile pace. Ran 3.8 atthat pace today. Going to be a struggle, but might be able to hit my goal of a sub-hour QM in June. And this spring-like weather is awesome. 40-45 degrees here today, 50-55 tomorrow. YES PLEASE!
Week 2 of training for the half had me running 90 minutes at a "comfortable pace" today so I ran most of it around a ~10:00 mile. Bout 50 minutes in I decided to run faster for a while and hovered between 8:30 - 8:45 for about three miles. Ended up doing a half mile extra once I hit 90 minutes because I wanted to get to ten miles. Just a tremendous day for a run. 50s most of the way and it's even nicer now. Training calls for three tomorrow but I'm feeling good so I think I'm gonna up it a little bit.
back on track after my week in tampa a couple weeks ago. 5 walk 20 min run 5 walk. my run pace was 14:10. also below 250 for the first time in over a year
Anyone running in the Oklahoma City Marathon on April 26th? Thinking about signing up. Have heard solid reviews of the course and this year marks the 25th anniversary of the OKC bombings. Recs on where to stay/what to do while in town are welcomed.
Did 7x400 hills today and running up was going into the wind. Really, really sucked. Was under 40 degrees too. But man is that a kickass workout.
Have a 10k in 2 weeks, and a Savage Race in 28 days. Been going strong for 14 months now and feel better than I have in a decade.
Had to run a 5k today for my half marathon training, so I did a two-mile warm up to get to the lake near my place. Did some stretching once I got there. Ended up running a 22:05. Haven't run that fast for that long in a couple years. Felt awesome. Don't think my race pace for a half will be that fast, but who knows. Got a 10k in three weeks and a 15k three weeks after that, so I'll have a solid idea on what I can do going into the first weekend of May. PR is a ~1:37.
