Same for us. We only have 1 position player playing this year that played last year. Our fans are nervous already because we've lost 3 games and we haven't really been scoring runs. Pitching has been great though, even in those losses
damn South Carolina lost their series to Northwestern. I miss when they were one of the major players in the SEC Stanford is 1-6. They've got Grand Canyon next weekend, who took 2 of 3 from OK St and won a game over Oregon. So that will be a tough series. Marquess only made two Regionals in his last five seasons. Then Esquer had two really really good seasons to start his tenure in 2018 (46-12) and 2019 (45-14). He's delivered more than expected to date so it's about time they had some regression I guess
Lost Sunday to Oregon state. Would have loved the sweep but had a lot of miscues. We head out west to play Long Beach State this weekend for another fun series. Wish I could go for that one.
Ole miss plays 12 games against the top 4, 19 against the top 8 and 29 against the top 21 in D1s current top 25 poll. That’s hilarious. https://d1baseball.com/top-25/d1baseballtop25022420/
That game was ugly. We looked lost and no plate discipline. Dude was throwing 85 and 75 off speed. Our guys could not stay back and go oppo.
Might have been the worst we have looked in 2 years couldn’t throw strikes, couldn’t hit 84 MPH, couldn’t field just trash all around
Dores with a 6-0 W over Evansville. FR Jack Leiter went 5 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 4 SO/3 BB on 74 pitches. So I think that's 1 hit in his first 10 career innings at the D1 level Michael Doolin with 4 SO in 2 IP as the first guy out of the pen, but he took 48 pitches to get through those two frames Martin hit a HR while playing CF
Ole Miss heads to the ECU tournament 7-1. Beat Southern Miss 4-3 but i'll give those dudes credit, half the team had the flu and they had the tying run on third in the 9th. Here's to them getting healthy and winning Conference USA and making this game look even better than it really was. Mike is still figuring out the bullpen which is basically Austin Miller, Max Cioffi and 5 freshmen. Hoo boy we are hopping on a roller coaster strapped to dynamite with all these freshmen and JUCO guys.
Anyone have a link to watch BTN+ or whatever it is? Wanna watch NCSU this weekend and I could do the 1 month thing and cancel but figured I’d ask here first. Or if you have a login and wouldn’t mind letting me borrow it for the weekend, slide on in the DMs
it is pretty fascinating Stanford has obviously been very very good for a very long time but they seemed to stop being really elite back around 2004. They made the CWS each year from 1999-2003. But since 2004, they have just 1 trip (back in 2008). Past two years they've been back to top notch form. Down year seems likely this season. They're now 1-7 after a loss in Berkeley on Tuesday hah UCLA had a really nice run from 2010-2013 where they had 3 CWS trips in 4 years with a title and a runner-up finish. But last season was the first year since then where they looked like a juggernaut again (50+ wins). They were good from a W/L perspective in 2015, but they flamed out in a Regional and sandwiched that season between two losing campaigns so there wasn't much elite talent on the roster IMO. So they've not been able to sustain it I kind of understand Cal because there are major budget issues there and they tried to drop baseball back around 2011 (right around that CWS run lol). There is considerable pushback against athletics from the Berkeley community and parts of campus. But even if they didn't have certain constraints, they'd still be totally content sucking in baseball. Esquer coached there from 2000-2017 and made six Regionals. Never finished higher than 3rd in Pac-12 play and he only did that once. Career record in conference play at Cal was 218-258. Yikes. Bob Milano coached Cal from 1978-1999 and made the postseason 6 times as well. Woof. Mike Neu, current Cal coach, had a couple decent seasons to start his tenure (made a Regional last year). If he is able to keep having winning seasons and making postseason appearances there, he could be someone to keep an eye on for an ACC/SEC job. He played at Miami USC having one Regional appearance (in 2015) since 2005 is what's really insane. Man they've had some horrible leadership. 21 CWS trips, none since 2001. Just 4 of those 21 have come since 1978. Sad! Fresno St had the random CWS title in 2008. Fullerton has a bunch of CWS trips since 2000 and would probably get my vote for best CA program right now I guess although Stanford was really good the past two years. Irvine and UCSB have had a few random runs. LBSU had 4 CWS trips from 1989-1998 but haven't been since the state really needs Stanford and USC to carry their weight
I remember watching that live and just laughing like a maniac. Thats the year we went to Omaha and a lot of crazy things happened that year. Good times.
Dores leading Hawaii 3-0 in B4. Hickman with 6 Ks through 4 IP Heading to Stanford after work to see them play Grand Canyon
Dammmmmnnnn. Hickman left mid-AB in T7. Looks like he blew out his elbow Sucks for him as he was gonna make bank this draft
This should have been ruled a HR. It was ruled a triple and the runner never scored according to Twitter Hoosiers get a nice 11-5 W at ECU
FSU beats FAU 5-1 to move to 7-1 on the season. We have a double header tomorrow with FAU and Texas Tech.
Channy Ortiz with a clutch 2-out, 2-run HR for GCU in T8 to tie it 2-2 Wowww. Stanford starter Brendan Beck had been cruising
Stanford just had runners at 1st and 2nd with 2 outs in B8 and were assessed a third strike for the batter violating the 20-second clock or some stupid shit. Lol unreal
Stanford leadoff hitter reaches in B10. They bunt him to 2nd. And he is still standing there as we head to the 11th tied 2-2. Run expectancy how does it work? David Shaw is proud of that conservative approach Edit: now GCU with two runners caught in rundowns between 3rd and home in T11. Unreal incompetence here Edit: 2-1 to the 14th thank god for my vape pen I suppose
