I probably have told this story on here but mine I won the hand with 67 diamonds. And flopped was 345 diamonds. Other guy had A2 of diamonds. Literally both flopped straight flushes
How big was it? Ours used to get huge, one was like $500k iirc. Now they cap them at $30k and instead have $200-300 high hands every 30 minutes pretty much all day every day.
It was about 96k. And for those that played at Hard Rock back in the day, this was about 3 months after they changed the jackpot from Spade Royal Flush to bad beat
The one up here actually ended up hitting $605k back in 2015.. That's crazy. The bestbet Jacksonville poker room's massive bad-beat jackpot hit on April 27 in a nine-player $2-$5 no-limit hold'em cash game, setting the state record at $605K.
I thought I hit the BB jackpot in orange park 3-4 years ago for around $250k. I had quad 7’s and lost to a straight flush. Rules of the BB jackpot were quad 10’s had to get beat. That was the longest walk to my car after losing that hand.
The requirements used to go down as it went higher. That's why it was so crazy that it got to 600k. Now it's quad 8s and max 30k.
I remember when it was around $500k before it got hit. I was playing at the best bet of Atlantic and you had people playing any combination of hands that qualified. It could be 6/2 suited and someone would play it.
that works. I know there is only 9 rows on the flight. its 2 hours vs 6.5 in the car and cheaper than gas and tolls
Christ I need to stop playing $1/3 while waiting for bigger games. Torched 4 buy-ins in like one hour playing like a maniac. Sick thing is, most of my plays should have worked, but I ran into bad players with the nuts playing hands like J4o and 67o in massive 3-bet pots.
Thats why I stopped playing 1/2 1/3, too many people there dont understand the game. I can make a perfect bluff that I will get away with at 2/5 5/10 and they think their 4th pair is good.
So very true. I was actually ahead a few times and not even bluffing but they actually shoved over the top of my flop bets with middle pair thinking I was bluffing when I had them crushed. Then they sucked out on me lol.
The early $100 buyin days after Florida finally got nl cash were great. Hard Rock has to be among the best places in the state to find drunks Friday/Saturday night who drop 3-4 buyins in quick succession.
Few players are better sources of profit than those waiting for a bigger game. Some of the worst 2/5 players are 5/10 players waiting for a seat to open up. You can always count on them for fancy play syndrome. Good players play one level above their opponent. Bad players play two levels above their opponent.
I forgot to tell y'all how my local game got busted a few weeks ago. Sucks cause I was enjoying their $60 buy in tourneys immensely (also proved to be a fruitful endeavor). But back to the poker hell that is Charlotte, NC until he's up and running again
1/2/5 cash game, 4 days a week. 3 tournaments a week, 20-30 depending on the day of the week. I've only played there since July but some others told me it had been running 6 years straight with no issues. I always assumed these guys are already greased with the local police but I guess not
too many people. need to keep it at 2 tables max. and have people uber. he was making a great living though a few grand a week with rake
Yeah the parking situation was pretty obvious which is why I figured it was a known game to the pd. Pretty tame crowd though so maybe it just existed under the radar for that long. He didn't make it seem like that big of a hit to the biz though. Wasn't like he was serving booze to the players which I am sure gets you in much more trouble in this state ...
I’ve dropped down to 1/2 to try and get out of my funk I’ve been in recently. Had 3 straight winning sessions and made good reads on folding big hands/bluffing in the right spots. This game is fun again. Leaving today for Chicago for a couple days and have a free night tonight. Debating on going to the Horseshoe Hammond. Anyone played there?
I have, but it has been 10 years or so. Poker room was busy back then, with a wide range of options. I believe at the time I played there was 2-3 5-10 games going, along with 2-5 and 1-2. Good action from what I could remember, but their poker room could be different now or moved in the casino. Good luck in Chicago.
I don't know the guy that well but he said it was only a $300 fine? Obv he's on the radar but he really doesn't seem phased at all. They kind of seemed to "search" the room with all of us in there, not sure if they expected to find other shit like drugs/guns/booze distribution but ended up with a bunch of old heads instead. Shoot the rules board says no cussin even, few old ladies in there regularly ...
Wife: should we go the flower show in philly this weekend. Me: they say to avoid large crowds because of the coronavirus Her: I guess you shouldn’t go play in that poker tournament in Atlantic City for your birthday Me:
Saw a guy last week playing with gloves on. Probably be some hazmat suites worn at the wsop this year. On another note I’ve dropped down and started playing 1/2 to get back on the upswing. Had 6 straight winning sessions. Decided to play 2/5 last night. An all in preflop with my AA vs JJ and he spikes a set. Buy in for another round. This time I have QQ. Flop is AQ9. We end up getting it all in and I’m up against AK. Turn 10, river J. It’s gonna be a while before I go back to 2/5. Sticking to 1/2 until I get my confidence back.
I was content to stay off of online poker. Had a pokerstars chest to open and got $40. Ran it up slowly to over $1200. Played a $2/5 game that ended up being 3 way action. Was up against a stack of $1000 to my $800. I got tabled on a QJ444 board losing to AA against my KK. Biggest hand I ever lost. I could’ve puked. I did cash some out before that game and am definitely off it for now.
I'm gonna go to the Seminole Hardrock casino in FL this weekend, play some poker for the first time in years. I should be due for some beginner's luck right? $1/$2 NL Hold'em table with a $200 buy-in? should be a blast.
Is there any website you guys know of where I could organize an online poker tournament for friends? The money aspect could be handled outside of this website via Venmo or something so that aspect isn't as important. Just want something trustworthy and user-friendly.
Poker stars has a home game feature that allows for this. I'm part of two different groups running tourneys this way.
I have been on the roller coaster of pokerstars in PA for a while now. Monday night I played in a bounty MTT and got 3rd of 700 people. Cashed nearly 800 in prize including bounties. Took to a 2/5 NL table about $300. Get AA in under the gun and raise to $15. Next raises to $45 and another caller. I reraise to $145 and 2nd guy calls. Flop I Qh6s5s. I jam for my stack and guy snap calls. Flips over 7s9s. Turn is 3h....river comes 4d. At least I only lost a few hundred but damn sucks. Grind out for hours and take a shot like that. I’m back up to where I was but still pissed at that swing.
That's tough. Only hope there is going all in on the reraise and just taking it home there. You're sacrificing some upside, but maybe he doesn't call with 79 suited when facing a clear strong pocket pair. It's always leaving it up to chance a bit when the flop is allowed to hit.
I hear ya. Always the struggle. I really thought about but just don’t like jamming with Aces there to get them to fold. I didn’t think 79 suites would call the 4 bet let alone my raise to $145. I didn’t see the straight at first and was just hoping for the flush to miss. When It did I was just about to fist pump and the chips went to him. I was floored. Online poker is crazy wild with how people play. I thought practicing against dblplay1212 i would see it all but I guess I was wrong.
Either PPPoker or PokerBros are apps that allow for clubs where you can arrange tourneys or cash games in a home-game style setup.
A lot of the reviews I'm reading are saying it's a shitty app that people don't trust the fairness of. Do you have any complaints on that end or are these just bitter people giving tons of bad reviews?
