Doing a bacon fast this weekend and seeing how long I can push it. Maybe a week? Who knows. Nothing but bacon and zero carb/calorie drinks. First tray just went in the oven.
There’s an article full of unproven science about one guy that did it. Good enough. https://ketogasm.com/the-bacon-experiment-interview/
So much poop. To be fair I deserve it I went on a binge pre start. I almost joined the pants shitting thread too. I was loading up on some items I needed at my local store and all of the sudden it hit. I was in shit paralysis for a solid 3-5 minutes in the beef jerky aisle at Fresh Market. If I would have moved it would have been bad. Started the MCT oil again this morning.
I know this is the wrong thread for me to say this but that much grease seems horrible to me. I still need something fresh to make be feel decent.
Oh yeah I’m sure that much longer and it has some pretty nasty effects. Short term this keeps the dieting fresh for me.
Teeter had a ridiculous sale on never frozen smoked salmon. Just made a giant bowl of dip with salmon, cream cheese, red onion, capers, a little mayo, and s&p. Dipping with celery. Do recommend.
I have a moderate level of ketones in my piss, am down 8 pounds since last Monday and feel good as fuck. AMA
Turned 34 yesterday and weighed 34 lbs less than I did turning 33. Still yo-yoing a bit being off and on Keto, but it’s certainly changed the way I eat and how I feel. Still loosely trying to go for 50 lbs lost; but I weigh myself often and know enough about my eating habits that I know things won’t slide back. I think the challenge moving forward is going to try to eat a normal diet without putting on weight, something that can be a struggle.
Instagram is trolling me with all these ads for keto sweets that I know taste like ass. I havent had a single one that I thought was good.
I may be in the minority but I really dig those Quest pizzas. Definitely going to keep me going longer this time because that’s probably the item I crave most. I also fucked up my oil intake this morning and it’s been a rough day. I think I’ve taken 4 showers.
I get it, it’s definitely no equal substitution and a unique taste. That said I do enjoy cauliflower in general, but regardless add enough cheese and sour cream and it’s hard not to be edible for me. Really helps me meet my fat for the day as well.
What’s your recipe? Steam the cauli (one head, chopped into small pieces), don’t boil it. Remove all water, add cauli back to pan to get all moisture out. Add in a stick of butter, salt, pepper. Blend with a stick blender. If you like, add sharp white Vermont cheddar.
Enlightened brand Coffee & Cream ice cream is great. My favorite followed by the glazed donut. Patience to let them thaw/soften goes a long way. 4 net grams per pint for all of their Keto Collection flavors.
cup of chicken stock cook the cauli in said chicken stock mash the cauli add butter and a splash of milk if you need some more liquid blend w/ immersion blender add cheese, salt/pepper/garlic enjoy
I had a similar recipe until I realized steaming + plus made a better emulsion that doesn’t split for leftovers
Cauliflower scores terrible on "Carb Manager" app. We made a keto cauliflower sausage soup, and the app says its 14g net. https://www.shugarysweets.com/low-carb-keto-zuppa-toscana-soup-recipe/ It was really good, though.
Has anyone had KITU Super Coffee? Keto friendly coffee that was on Shark Tank apparently. I don’t like coffee but enjoy this for sure. Been drinking them daily now for awhile.
Officially down 55.4lbs in 14 months. Wanted to be down to 200 by now, but at 205, I’m within range. Not bad. Especially considering how tough holidays are and wanting to cheat from time to time. Just glad to have maintained through the tough times. Still need to find a long-term solution that works, but happy with the results and how I feel at this point. Really hoping for 2 solid weeks to drop under 200 before vacation. Would be a major coup.
We're really focused on our total net carbs. Is it important to reach the daily Fat grams as well? I'm never close to my daily allowance of fats.
to get into ketosis yes. Your macros are very important. It depends on how much weight you want to lose. I only needed to get down 10-20 so I hardly meet my macros. I still lost but think it would have been better to meet them.
To echo yes, and it’s far and away the hardest part for me. I could just eat protein and vegetables and be fine.
Fat is a lever for a keto weight loss diet (different from a medical keto diet). You do not need to hit your fat macro, it is not what puts you into Keto. Its not a goal. Interested in what your daily macros are though.
Serious question- if I eat say 25g of sugars is that any worse that 25 carbs from ssy nuts? Or is a carb a carb a carb for ketogenic abs insulin purposes?
Gender: Male | Age: 34 | Weight: 225 lb | Height: 6'1" Calorie Goal: 0% Change Protein: 131g Carbs: 28g Fat: 176g Target: 2215 kcal Now the carbs for macro, are those net? 57-43-51 fat since I started tracking 20-27-10 net carb This is our 2nd week of doing the diet, but I just got the app Tuesday. Dinner is usually a meat with a vegetable. Lunch is usually a salad or deli meat with cheese. Couple bites of a Quest bar for snack.
I could be wrong but I believe you are talking about glycemic load. Pure sugar is going to significantly raise your blood glucose. If you look at the glycemic index as it relates to food, you'll see we can eat nothing in even the moderate range.
How so? The avg adult male needs to eat 30-50g of fat per day on a weight loss keto diet to supplement fat being burned from the body. Protein is a goal, carbs are a limit, fat is lever. This has been drilled into me since 2011 on my first keto journey by the keto experts. IMO... Your fat macro is way to high. You aren't eating at a deficit. You can be in Ketosis and not lose weight.
The source matters because fiber and alcoholic carbs won’t be converted into glucose. So out of the 10 grams of those Pecan carbs, 7ish of them are fiber. Compared to that snickers bar where they’ll all be converted to glucose.
Did it lower your sugar macro? Our measurements are basically the same and 28g sugar knocks me out of ketosis. Everyone is different but I can’t venture much past 20 at all.
Your protein is at .8-.9? The less fat you eat the higher your deficit. But you still need to eat 50++ grams of fat a day. You need to find a few high fat foods you like. Most of my additional fat (main fat from red meat) comes from cheese and condiments (ranch is bauce).
My proteins have been higher than my fat. I love ranch, so I'll just smother everything in that, lol. Your protein goal is independent (in terms of how you calculate it) of your other macros. It’s a ratio between .8 all the way up to 2, for intense bodybuilders, of your lean muscle mass in pounds. It’s what you need to eat every day in order to replenish. Your carbs are a limit if you eat too many you’ll fall out of ketosis as it will look for carbs to burn before stored body fat. The remainder of your macros per day are fats. It’s perfectly OK for your protein to be higher than your fats. It has always been for me and realistically should be for most eating at a big deficit.
I just followed 75/20/5% (fat/protein/carbs). Some foods worked better for me than others. Even with those ratios, consuming my full allotment of calories mattered. But I eat roughly 150-180g of fat daily with those macros at 200lbs. It was more when I was 250+. What worked best for me? Beef and salads (w/ good quality dressing). And 1/2 a cup of cream in my AM coffee.
