Running the Jacksonville marathon in 9 days. If I can walk that night where's a good place for dinner or somewhere fun to go
I went to orsay and it was good. Also how is the seating at the Jax baskeball arena. Debating grabbing tix in case fsu plays here
Only been a few times but I don't remember there being any bad seats. It's not huge so you can't be too far from the court.
Any recommendations or access to large mouth bass ponds or inshore fishing accessible from kayak. Plan on starting at icw around palm valley and fishing the docks. Since it's close by
Sup doods. I'm going to be coming over Friday to see the Stones. What are some things I should know about being around the stadium? dblplay1212 #Jacksonville Jaguars
Intuition brewery opened up over there. I haven't been yet but I've heard good things. I'm sure they'll be packed that night. I didn't make any games last year bc of the newborn so I'm sure a lot has changed since I was last down there.
Group of us are flying in Sept 7th for the Chiefs/Jags game. Staying at the Hyatt by The Landing. Recs for a good place to watch the games on Saturday & non-chain place to grab a steak on Saturday night?
Not many sports bars in that neck of the woods. Intuition will likely have games on it’s upstairs deck. I can’t speak to it personally, but friends seem to have enjoyed Cowford’s Chophouse http://cowfordchophouse.com/
Hoptingers probably has most of the games on and they have a cool rooftop patio. Otherwise you can go to kickbacks or some of the surrounding bars to watch the game and most of the bars have great tap lists. Seconded on cowford chophouse, which is one of the few non chain steak houses in the city. There isn’t much around there, however, so I’d also consider bistro aix or town hall (haven’t been but heard good things), which are across the river and have some good bars to check out nearby.
Might get some shit for this but imo the mellow mushroom in Avondale is the best sports bar on that side of town. Only like a 10 min Uber from downtown. I’ve never liked kickbacks and would much rather watch a game at mellow.
This is a solid take. Mellow has a great tap list & actually has a decent weekend brunch, which I've had watching EPL
I know I realized that six hours ago after I posted it. Please carry on with whatever you talk about in this thread.
Sitting in the airport tonight on a flight to ATL with about 50 red shirt/jersey wearers and all they could talk about was the heat and how lame the tailgating scene was.
The chowder is honestly unlike anything else I’ve had, so yes, I’d give it my highest recommendation. Everything is really good and fresh, but man that chowder is something else. My project site is right there, so I don’t know how long it would take you but I don’t think you’d be disappointed.
I love a good chowder so I'll try to make it out there. One of the best I've had is over in Cedar Key. They've won world competitions with it. You can get it in Publix and just add half and half. Comes out solid for a store bought chowder but not near as good fresh. Will try to get to Ted's. https://www.tonyschowder.com/
Ate there Thursday, driving back from morning meeting in Amelia Island. Delicious 1/2 chowder pot & Texas toast
Going to be in the area Sunday night. Looking for an neighborhood to get a hotel. Don't need to be blown away but would like a decent restaurant and a bar or 2 nearby. Playing golf Sunday afternoon downtown area, Monday between downtown and the beach. Don't want to be on the jax beach side. Is there a certain area downtown that is walkable with a bunch of stuff?
Stay at the Omni or Hyatt Downtown. You'll be near a TMB owned distillery - Manifest 3 Great Breweries nearby - Aardwolf, Engine 15 & Intuition 2 minute Uber to San Marco - Taverna, Rue St. Marc, Matthew's, Town Hall, Bistro Aix, BB's, V's Pizza - (Sidecar or Grape & Grain for drinks) 5-10 minutes away to 5-Points/Avondale: 13 Gypsies, Restaurant Orsay, Black Sheep, Kickbacks Gastro Pub, River & Post (Rooftop Bar) There are a few restaurants / bars downtown that are nice as well: Cowford's Chophouse is popular, but not where I'd go to eat Dos Gatos & The Volstead for drinks
I'm pretty sure there are cheaper hotel options in the San Marco area as well... Hit up the OG Metro Diner, Maple Street Biscuit Co. or The Local, if you want a killer breakfast
Tomato mozzarella app is great w/ 25 year aged balsamic think I got the mushroom- balsamic crusted ribeye last time & it was stellar wife gets the bone in filet
