Who got a restaurant for WED!?!?!? Last second trip due to some other complications. Bringing my pregnant wife. Probably going to be different than our last time in Asheville where we got bombed all day at Breweries. Staying North about 10 minutes. Probably going to hit up the Biltmore and then swing by Sierra Nevada, which I've heard is really pretty and cool. Will try to get a table a Curate, probably gonna have to be a late lunch due to late reservation. Enjoyed White Duck Tacos last time we were in, so a lunch spot. Any good breakfast places? Probably hit one up Monday or Tuesday when it is slower and ppl are working. Let me know that hotness around town. I can probably get to a brewery or two while we are there. Is there anything new that is hot? Been maybe 2 years
You know I got you. My breakfast spot is Taco Billy for breakfast tacos. The Mamas Favorite is life changing. I guess I’d call Zillicoah the newest hot brewery? It’s been around for 2 years ish. Hit up 12 bones if you have an extra lunch open. It shares a bldg with Wedge Brewing
Zillicoah is good if the weather is nice. If it's cold or raining don't think it'd have as much attraction. Very picturesque spot by the river
i wish highland would have their rooftop open more i went 4-5 times in my 2 years and got up there once. its pretty absurd
its good. i certainly miss it a ton. living with the gf and a baby is stressful but rewarding. need to make it back for a weekend
Yeah. It was supposed to be a 1/4" dusting so I was all OK nbd I can do thst in my non AWD SUV. Now up on the top of hill north of the Asheville country club we've got a solid 2". I'm 100% certain I can get down. Getting back up would be pretty sketchy. It's windy and mostly steep. It's only supposed to be 35 today so it's not melting. I only have 4 beers and 1 bottle of wine. Foot is low too. Can I call 911 for a few sixers and a pizza
a lot of folks just park at the bottom of the driveway and walk the rest of the way when it gets like that. Or just go for a quick jog to Asheville Brewing it’s not thattt far away
It's a 1.8 mile walk down. That's hefty especially the way back up. It's more than the driveway tho. It's probably half way is an uphill mtn road. I doubt they plow up here
It’ll melt pretty quick, I’m on Stratford at the club and the roads are fine here. Are you up in Beaverdam? Most the roads above us get plowed quickly because the old folks, Beaverdam is a different story.
Yeah, I'm basically at the top of Beaverbrook. I did just peaked outside and the sun is doing a good job melting the roads. Probably fine by noon at the latest. The parts that are covered by trees will be sketchy. Tonight supposed to be 22, hopefully it doesn't ice. but 57 Sunday
pulling up google there's more seating inside than what i remembered taqueria munoz > white duck plus zillicoahs beer is elite
Are any of the big macro-craft breweries cool to go to? There's not beers from NB that I really like. Sierra Nevada is pretty far. Tomorrow we're going to the Biltmore, so we'll be out a bit.
Thinking we're going to do White Duck, one away from downtown, then up the River to Zillicoahs, then probably back home
That's what I've heard about the bigger ones. Lunch on the way out seems like a perfect stopping point.
I need to stop going to Asheville in winter. Seems like there is a plethora of outdoors seating area and stuff to do. Crazy I know
I like winter, but feel like I miss out on good outdoors spots. Like it's 39 and not awful, but would be cool to eat by the rivee
This was a good rec This was good beers. Def cool spot when the weather is better with the river. This was just OK. French Toast was good. Rest kinda Meh. Biltmore was cool, but damn room after room after room gets a bit repetitive. The wine tasting was also terrible. Not good wine. River Arts district was cool. Went to a brewery called Wedge Brewery. Liked the river views. Asheville does a good job making all their industrial shit blend in with the new. Storm Rhum was good
I think all the wines were 13-17 at the tasting which isn't thst good of wine. One was good rest not good. Also $70 to get on the estate was an absurd rip off. I guess Anderson Cooper isn't making enough at CNN
River Arts is awesome, as is Wedge. Just a cool area. Go do the glass making class next time you are there.
I had an excellent meal at The Admiral in West Asheville with my folks Tuesday this week. Later I ran in to some Curate chefs that were happy to hear I enjoyed myself. I guess they've had a decent amount of turnover the last few years, still one of the top spots anywhere in Asheville IMO. A bartender recommended Bene on Eagle to me but we didn't have a chance to make it. Finally got breakfast at Sunny Point too, meets the hype for sure. Also did the Biltmore tour for the first time, it was pretty neat and the wine tasting afterwards was fun and without limits for drinks apparently ...
I dug Biltmore more than I expected. The art was interesting to me, as was understanding some of the technology that went in to such a massive early 19th century structure. Enjoyed the gardens as well and the greenhouses. I do not have a great palate for wine, but at least our pourers kept the liquids flowing. I think I sampled the entire list, at least 10+ pourings ...
