At one point in the game the mic caught a guy saying “On ya daddy” after a play, and I was very confused until I saw the tweet above.
3 weeks in, hows the attendance been? Battlehawks game had a good crowd but I never saw the attendance number. (Was smoking some meats so probably missed it)
Radio said attendance has increased each week. STL had 30k this weekend, while LA had 12k. Dunno why they'd think an LA team would be successful.
Read an article that week 1 TV viewers were 3.3 mill, week 2 2.1 mill, haven’t seen week 3 numbers yet.
I'm more familiar with movies than TV, but that drop off is not bad at all. Most would look at that as a strong week 2, especially with nascar going on. Week 3 numbers will be the story.
I think there is some healthy spin in tone in that article. Makes it sound horrible and that’s not accurate. The ratings are going down, but that’s obviously expected. The ratings are still above predictions and out performing the NBA. I can say anecdotally too that in NYC every bar is playing it now and people are there watching and betting. It’s been a blast.
You'd think if you were gonna go to all the trouble of starting this league, you'd budget to weather a few lean years while you build an audience. Not sure if that's a financial reality though
I thought Vince was committing the money needed for 3 years with no tv deal. Not sure he sticks to it if no tv deal ends up happening eventually though.
He was moving that whole time and waved. Looked like an inadvertent kick to the helmet. They're hoping it was precautionary.
They should've started the season over summer and just had MLB to compete against That would've filled the football itch much more than starting a much leaner version of football a few weeks after the super bowl Right now they are competing against the most important stretch of the regular season seasons and heading into the playoffs of:NCAAB, NHL and NBA. March also starts the PGA tournaments that really get that season going
Also think they did a poor job of picking markets. Tampa should've been Orlando Houston and Dallas should've been Austin or San Antonio or even OKC St Louis is good pick Too lazy to sort out the rest
That's a good point. However I still think putting a team okay by a watered down version of football in a city like Tampa where we have been watching bad football for over a decade, and starting the season right after the NFL season ended was a poor decision. Football itch starts over summer. Should've played it leading up to NFL season instead of right after the NFL season
