Maybe already addressed but he said in an interview he never did prescription drugs, he just wrote about them because people could relate to them
I was thinking about this earlier, but I almost think it’s good that Isbell is evolving his sound. If I came up with one complaint about his music, it’s that a lot of it sounds the same. You see him live and there’s not much set variety because most everything is in the same tempo, etc. So if he is indeed expanding his sound, I’m here for it.
Jerry Joseph opening for the Truckers. His backing band for this song is Patterson on guitar, Matt Patton on bass, Jay Gonzalez on keys and one Michael Cooley on the banjo.
Homecoming night 3, where Mike Mills showed up and Cooley was so drunk he played Ghost to Most twice. A 3-hour beast of a show. i actually listened to mandy moore's new album because i like a lot of the people she collaborates with and i didn't make it very long.
Just got home from a Jason solo show for the Doug Jones Senate campaign at the Lyric theater in Birmingham. Excellent show and a rare opportunity to see him in that setting. Just him and an acoustic. Talked a lot, was real chummy with Senator Jones. Played for about an hour +/-. Something more than free Over seas (new song) Hope on the high road Traveling alone Last of my kind 24 frames Vampires Be afraid (new song) Tour of duty Speed trap town Cover me up Alabama pines
I was there too! Acoustic Overseas was fantastic and it was nice to hear to hear Tour of Duty. It was worth the money just to see him live on his own like that. It was pretty funny at the end when he said something like "And for those of you who don't support Doug Jones but are here to see me, well looks like you done goofed up and supported Doug Jones!"
The Mrs. bought them but yeah they went pretty quick and weren’t cheap. Maybe $130 each for ours, second row Mezz. Looks like Snakes dropped 400-500 a ticket. The Lyric is an old Vaudevillian theatre that was recently renovated I think they spent around 12mm...I think it seats a couple hundred...very cool venue.
my wife's much older cousin (pseudo brother-long story) is very generous. They were $250 each plus fees.
yeah it was crazy. they were sold out almost immediately which is why we ended going near the front. everything else was already sold. Looked and DBT at Iron City is going for $28.00. I will probably go.
I love it. His sound has changed a lot and that's okay. He's not going back to his old style anytime soon.
That Jimbo bass line though, whew. That's the good stuff. And the song's fine. Another reminder for me not to listen to new stuff before I have coffee.
I'm sure the youtube comments are going berserk about the white privilege theme and he's not singing about pills and suicide anymore.
Not really feeling either of Jason's first two releases from this album tbqh The mix on the first one doesnt sound good to me and this song is just kind of generic
