Reddish turning the corner would be amazing. His defense alone is going to keep him on the NBA floor for years. Simmons and Rusillo called him a complete bust in December.
Anyone claiming bust on reddish this early was nuts. He's still not close to being fully developed or near his max potential.
he did not have an off-season to develop. Both he and Huerter had to come into the season to shake the rust off due to injuries. If we get to April fully healthy, that’s the best case scenario for this season. It’ll let the young Wings improve before October
Lucky enough to see the game in person tonight. The Nets kept it close (and were winning for large stretches) in the first half, but they were not good in the second half. Probably one of the more balanced games I’ve seen from the team this year. Trae even forced one or two shot clock violations on defense - all things considered a great night at the arena.
Lot of good chemistry on O tonight. Trae had everyone involved. Collins, Huerter and Hunter all played lights out. Bruno abd Trevion clean off the bench.
Whatever happens the rest of the way, I can’t express what a steal cam was at 10. His 2 way potential is amazing and will create a whole new narrative around the Luka trade
The Cam Reddish #Duke Blue Devils haters look really dumb now. That shot is filthy and he is so good on D already.
That shot is filthy (33% from 3 on the year and 33% from 3 since the ASG) so good on D already (-0.9 DBPM)
Duke had shit floor spacing and played a ton of 2-3 zone. Basically a worst case scenario for a projected 3 and D. He was 6/9 from 3 vs Brooklyn and 5 of 7 vs Washington just in the past 10 days. I don’t know why you are so invested in Cam, it’s borderline creepy. It’d be like me and GaKnight going in the Wolves thread to consistently shit on Jarrett Culver.
Worst case scenario for a 3 and D wing involves bad floor spacing on offense? Isn't he theoretically there to fix that? And who do you think you're talking to with the Jarrett Culver reference?
33% is not in the 40s Duke had shitty floor spacing because Cam shot 33% on 7.4 3s per game. Him shooting 6 of 9 and 5 of 7 is totally consistent with his time at Duke, in which he pulled monster games against Louisville and Florida State out of his ass amidst five game stretches of shiftiness or invisibility (although Louisville and Florida State are much better college teams than Brooklyn and Washington are NBA teams). Please ask your resident shitposter to not tag me if you think it’s weird for me to tell you why Cam was a bad pick given the options available at 1.10.
Whats up Hawks fans. I am bored so you are going to get a random stream of thoughts this AM. Read a Kirschner piece on the athletic this week where it talks about how Huerter wasn't in good shape in July/August and thats why his knee/shoulder issues popped up early in the season. The piece seemed optomistic that KH is going to be much improved next year with the benefit of an off-season. He needs to start faster this year and improve on defense if he wants to be a quality starter. Listening to some Brad Rowland/Locked on Hawks podcasts this week, It is embarrasssing that with Trae Young and Huerter we were by far the worst 3 point shooting team in the league. Shlenk fixed the 5 position and got all the garbage off our roster. Who do you all want in FA? Most people point to Joe Harris which would be unbelievable from a floor spacing standpoint next to Trae, but the rest of your lineup better be Kawhi / Kevin Garnett level defenders if that is your 1 and 2. I like Bertans a little bit better as a fit for us. I'd love a starting 5 of Trae/Reddish/Bertains/Collins/Capella with Huerter/Hunter/Dedmon off the bench. Piss on anyone thats a playoff team in the east. Not sure who the back up PG is. I'd rather go Goodwin than Teague as he is cheaper, younger and shot better. As far as draft goes. UGA fans might not like it but I don't want Edwards. If we are in the top 5, I like Killian Hayes. If we fall a little bit I'd be happy with Isaac Okoro (though his shooting is worrisome I love everything else about him), Devin Vassell or Aaron Nesmith (think they'd be flame throwers with that second unit) or Dani Avidja from Tel Aviv (think he'd be awesome playmaking with that second group and let Huerter be the playmaker). Obviously a 2 or 3 that can shoot is where I am thinking. If he falls in the first round, I woild love to see Leandro Bolmaro find a way to be our back up point guard. I went down a wormhole of his highlights and he can't shoot but man he'd be fun to see. what do yall think #Atlanta Hawks Gaknight Snakes
Kevin being healthy is key. We are not a bad team with Kevin, Trae and Collins all healthy. Collins absolutely killed us with that suspension and hopefully these shoulder issues are past Kevin. We just need to keep loading up on elite wing defenders. Trae is going to be on the court all the time for the next decade and he needs elite elite defense to help him. Having capella on the court as a rim defender will really help our guards defend because they know they will have help down low. I loved how Reddish and Hunter developed as the season went on. Reddish was really hitting his stride before the season stopped. Damn shame because he was beginning to make a lot of critics look foolish. For that reason I’m high on Okoro. I think he could develop into a Star and will be there for us in the top 5-8 or so. At the very least he will be an excellent defender like Hunter. That being said I would be fine with taking Edwards. He obviously has crazy high potential but I just didn’t see a lot out of him in the 2-3 games I watched him play this year. It’s hard to project though so who the hell knows. Basically I’m all #TITS (trust in Travis Schlenk). He has done a great job so far setting us up for the future. It’s still a long way to go but he’s done the rebuild about as good as he possibly could in my opinion.
I’m high on Obi. I’m think we need mature players at this point and less one and dones. Not going to pretend I know much about Killian Hayes but seen his name rocketing up the draft boards. Id probably take Lamelo at one and figure out how he and Trae can play together.
Call me biased but Okoro’s shot could improve. His form isn’t terrible. He never needed to shoot much in his life til college. That can be worked on.
I think LaMelo is probably the #1 pick in the draft but I also think he is about as bad a fit next to Trae as possible. Elite passer, horrible at the rim, horrible on defense, questionable shot. Obi is basically John Collins lite. Doesn't defend as well as John did this year was actually awful moving laterally in what I saw, and was just a rim running dunker. I am really low on him. I think he is pretty old too. I am blah on him for the hawks. Agree with snakes that we have to add 2 more good wings and see how it shakes out. If we could get 1 in FA and 1 in the draft, I'd be irrationally excited for next year. Trae, 4-5 good wings, John, Clint, Dedmon is a damn good team
You’re all spot on that they need to load up on wings. Any player that can shoot and/or guard is the key. I’m hoping they can make a FA run at Evan Fournier, but I don’t know if Orlando is going to let him out. Here’s next season’s roster based on who’s under contract: 1: Young, Goodwin 2: Huerter, Reddish 3: Hunter 4: Collins, Dedmon 5: Capela, Fernando
Forgot about Fournier. I’d add him as 1A to my FA wishlist with Bertans. Put Joe Harris as number 3. Fournier or Bertans at the 3 and a rookie wing and baby we got a stew
Reddish is our best wing. He’s starting over Huerter going forward especially considering his defense is going to be elite.
Reddishs off ball D was incredible for a rookie, almost as his on ball D. I think he’s capable of guarding the opponents best 1-3 and let Trae follow the weakest
I'd be worried about Edwards falling in love with shooting the 3 here. His problem seems to be settling for bad 3s when he should drive to the rim. What would it cost to get Donovan Mitchell off the Jazz if he's done there
✔@MarcJSpearsESPN Via new rules, the NBA teams with the three worst 2019-2020 regular-season records will each have a 14 percent chance of winning the lottery. Golden State, Cleveland and Minnesota have the three worst records with Atlanta, Detroit and New York behind by a hair in the standings. just getting fucked in all directions
Sign Joe Harris Draft Killian Hayes or Devin Vassell at 4 Get a back up PG who can defend (Kris Dunn is my pick) and we are a 5 or 6 seed next year I think we are going to get a huge jump out of the 3 young wings, I also think Collins and Capela together are going to be fun as shit
