One of the best memories from the attitude era is that one halftime heat with the Rock/Mankind fighting in an empty arena
Can you imagine watching a WrestleMania that took place in an empty football arena? or, to put it another way Can you imagine watching the WrestleMania preshow?
The Jazz played in Detroit a few days ago. I’m guessing this may be the first of a bunch performance center RAW/Smackdowns. Mania really can’t take place at this point. NHL is done. MLB going to suspend the start of its season. everything is shutting down
WWE issued the following statement to PWInsider.com: “While we remain committed to hosting WrestleMania at Raymond James Stadium on Sunday, April 5, we are putting contingency plans in place in the event that it is cancelled by government officials, civil authorities and/or local venues. The health and safety of our fans, performers and employees are our top priorities and we are monitoring the situation closely with our partners and government officials in Tampa Bay.” hahahahahah
I mean we know the latter is a lie when they won't give their "independent contractors" health insurance
So weird and think its hilarious that some of them have it so engrained to play up to crowds they are still doing it when the arena is empty
That was bad. And why did they replay the tag team match from Elimination Chamber?? I'd already seen that match, so I was forced to watch something else. Maybe bad is too harsh, it was fucking weird.
Yes. Roman did an interview on his match and ended with cena and Bray giving promos on their match. I tuned in to see what it looked like and just couldn't turn away.
I really enjoyed the episode. It was very different. I loved HHH in the booth. Roman had a promo that a real human would cut. And Cena and Bray was fantastic to close out the show. Shame mania is gonna take place at the PC
Sounds like the county was hoping WWE would have enough sense to pull the plug on Mania themselves. Since they dont, sounds like it's about to happen anyway from the county "I'm hoping that Vince McMahon and WrestleMania and WWE make the call themselves, but a week from now, if they've not done that and we're still in the situation we're in, we'll probably have to pull the plug on that," Miller said Thursday, according to Fox 13. Miller is the county commissioner
Someone mentioned for insurance reasons the WWE is going to wait to the last second to pull the plug. My guess is they want the state, local government to pull the plug and they are playing a game of chicken
Still don't see the need to cancel it this far out, especially with schools resuming March 30th. Of course this all subject to change if this gets significantly worse, but I think they should wait until at least the weekend before to pull the plug.
Agree. At this point if its given the green light a good portion of that crowd wont be able to attend with the travel ban in place. I don't recall seeing a end date to the ban.
The 30 day ban started on Wednesday, but it was said the ban could be reduced or lengthened depending on how this continues to develop. But a hard 30 days would see the ban end April 10th.
If they have to cancel, doing it in the PC seems like a terrible idea. More money could be made having a later PPV than wasting the card in an empty arena
Yeah, I'm hoping they could just move it to the late spring or early summer, but that would likely be a logistical nightmare. Plus there's almost a guarantee of a lightning delay once you start getting in to June
How would you move storylines along if its delayed? I'm going to guess they keep doing RAW/Smackdown/NXT from the PC for the next few weeks. Speaking of weekly shows has AEW mentioned what they plan on doing with Dynamite?
Depending on how long WM has to be delayed, they should audible some feuds. A few can be extended but would be hard to put a pause and tread water for weeks on these
I think half the card isn’t really hot enough to be on a mania card tbqh. But the main stuff like Cena, Goldberg, Becky and Orton would need some creative thinking to delay. Brock, Charlotte can be explained with the match being awarded because of winning the rumble so no mania means no match. And you can move temporary or delay it.
Theres only a few feuds that matter Cena/Fiend is an easy delay So is AJ/Taker So is Lesnar/Drew So is Goldberg/Reigns Becuase they all involve part timers. The only major fulltime feuds are Becky vs Shayna and Edge/Orton and they really only just got started since Edge took a lot of time off after the Rumble and Shayna just won the contendership
They could always change the PPV schedule around and hold like a money in the bank at the PC to blow off some non essential WM feuds and hold off on Mania. Could still have some entertaining mitb matches without a crowd imo.
This is the fucking content that would get me to tune in. Fuck Wrestlemania. Long live bar room brawls.
