It’s hard not to wonder how dominant Hall could have been if he always wrestled with that kind of offensive aggression from neutral. I mean, he had a great career anyway but he always seemed comfortable being really good and safe
174 seems like themost straightforward weight seeding wise, but how do you deal with Skatzka-Romero-Labriola at 6-7-8? Skatzka went 3-1 against Labriola and 1-2 against Romero, but both the losses to Romero are in the last 6 weeks. Romero went 2-1 against Skatzka but 0-2 against Labriola. Labriola went2-0 against Romero but 1-3 against Skatzka. None of them have any top 5 wins. The only loss to a guy below them is when Skatzka got pinned by a kid from Rider.
I think the Brands', especially Terry, are the kind of people that you have to know to understand. This is my limited impression from watching Flo's doc on Terry and multiple interviews. Everything seems like a fight/confontation/competition to them. If you're not on their wavelength, you just aren't going to get along. Personally I think they're great. Not many people like that these days.
Missed a lot of matches earlier and watching now. Stall calls in Pletcher-Lee was That match was awesome yet you allow guys to do nothing for 7 minutes and give them nothing. Folk rules are whack.
I think Sasso got 3 seconds of danger, he still needs to open up way more Not sure how you don't get any points for putting a guy on his back for 2+ seconds
The #1 seed and #9 ranked wrestler I believe went 2 and out and decided to do a true 8th place at the last minute so he could qualify It's bullshit...he had his chance and lost
Brackets are out. https://www.ncaa.com/sites/default/files/public/files/NCAA_D1_2020.pdf Pretty sure 165 and 285 will be redrawn as Harvard isn't allowing Conigliaro and Slavikouski to compete due to the corona.
5 for RBY seems ridiculous after the season he had. Lee definitely has much harder side than Pletcher. Sasso-Kolodzik in the quarterfinals yikes
I think Kaleb Romero is in a great spot. Avoids guys we know he struggles against. Barring upsets he'll have to beat Jordan Kutler or Mantanona/Valencia winner for AA status.
I think the best three guys in the 149 bracket are on the bottom (Kolodzik, AOC, Sasso). I'm taking AOC over Kolo. Honestly I'm worried that it's going to be cancelled altogether.
I’m isn’t this was at large bids are for? Guys that fuck up at conference tourney? What the fuck big 12.
Yeah such a shame this all happens when they are going to an enlarged venue. Really thought how this years event went would make a major impact on where it goes in the future.
I'm going to laugh so much if Iowa's one shot to win the team title gets ruined when they cancel the tournament.
I hope the #Iowa Hawkeyes fans on here react better than the ones on Hawkeye report if/when ncaas are cancelled
Have to think any adjusted eligibility only goes to those who actually qualified for the tournament... but that would hilarious
Apparently there are discussions being had about granting an additional year of eligibility to affected athletes. I'm assuming most don't take it, but these are people who have been held back a year or two, taken greyshirts, redshirts, medical redshirts, olympic redshirts...we're gonna have a 30 year old SR at some point. Like Grant Leeth is gonna be 26 when his senior season starts if he gets an extra year.
2 more years for Kemmerer? Scholarship money is going to be interesting....and Ivy League doesn't give scholarships so that's another added layer
Tanner Hall is like 30 already... Mission, redshirts, COVID, think he may want to get on with his life before he's 40
Pan-Am olympic game qualifier brackets are out. Doesn't matter because there's about a 1% chance of the olympics actually happening at this point, but Gilman is on the same side as Andreu Ortega, Zain is on the opposite side of Valdes Tobier. Taylor is on the same side as Torreblanca. Gwiz has to be Cuba and PUR. Doesn't matter.
Man, I can't imagine the feeling of devoting your entire life to one event, and it gets taken away Just sickening for lack of a better word
Forgot about him, that's a good one! Hall was class of 2011. He wrestled at 2012 Olympic trials. He just turned 27 I think, he'd be a 28 year old senior.
He went on a mission post HS, came back, redshirted. Competed, somehow redshirted again last year(really not sure how that happened) and was technically a senior, finally, eligibility wise this year.
He also spent a year and a half in colorado springs after high school prior to his mission lollll Graduated HS 2011 1.5 years at USOC 2 years in Uganda on mission 5 years in college possibly 6th year in college next year
When I heard the NCAA was canceling stuff my first thought was man I feel terribly for the wrestlers. These dudes are a different breed and have a commitment to their sport that is so special. Just a really unfortunate situation
