Worst case scenario that's what they'd ask to fix about it at closing. But a good home inspector would at least test it.
Time to refinance boys. Jorts dblplay1212 who should I go to for this? The current bank operating my mortgage or a local broker? If a broker what’s the best way to find a good one?
Dining room chandelier and pendant lights installed. Not much left to do except for stain the stairs, clean up and touch up paint. Feels good, man.
Serious or nah? I hate it. We picked it, but the finished product was not at all what i envisioned. It’s better now that it looks like a completed kitchen, but I give it a few months tops before we replace it.
I could see hating it once it's in there. Especially if the shapes are smaller than what you were expecting
Hate is probably a strong word for how I feel. Everyone else loves it but I expected something else, so it kind of threw me. I’m hoping it continues to grow on me as we move our stuff in.
I like those lights. Before all this bullshit started we were trying to make our own for our bar. Those look feasible.
Since we’re on lights here is what I was working on. I was thinking I really like the shape of your lights over the counter as I could sort of easily make those. Issue is that much glass is really heavy and easy to fuck up. I definitely know that I need 5 and they are not all going to be uniform because it’s glass and I don’t work in a glass blowing studio like some people. So I saw a picture a guy posted and thought making them abstract looked cool. This is our first prototype. Thought it would be easy as shit but it’s not. This is upside down btw. Thoughts or does this look dumb? I’ll look for the other pic I found.
Mine are not nearly as close together and would be significantly smaller. I also would use something else to cover the bulb.
Home Inspection this morning. I'm freaking out a bit. Tons of ppl canceling contracts due to everything happening
Anyone have a ventless gas fire place? So reading about them and they seem OK but not the best.. My new house has one and a little concerned. I doubt the builder would change it, seems a massive change. This is the fire place. Also need to hang a TV above it. Wall is "decorated" with 1x4 seems like a difficult to find the stud/have studs line up with a 1x4. Any thoughts?
My papa has a circuit that is immediately popping. Just started happening last week. Assuming that something chewed a wire and now we have a short. Anybody know what tool, workflow I'd want to do to find the short?
I realize I posted in this thread almost a year ago when I closed on my house (memorial day weekend '19) but I just finished up the kitchen. Things move a little slowly when you're doing it all yourself and only on the weekends. Pretty pumped with how it all turned out after nearly a year
What's behind the 1x4? Is that drywall or flush wood paneling? And do you know what's behind that - brick or just studs?
hate shield activated. we took a board off the garage wall, and found this behind it. There are these every other few inches for about 15 feet along one side of the garage ceiling. Anyone know why a previous owner would have done this? looks like about a 4-6" cut from a circular saw or bit.
The broad answer would be stupidity - more specifically I'd guess it would've been plumbing pipes previously going through the wall but don't know why there would be that many or why they'd be that close together.
my guess is the garage wasnt originally insulated and they cut those holes to blow in insulation into each space between studs
I'd imagine it's drywall and a framed wall with 2x4 studs. I'd be shocked if the studs line up with the 1x4 decorative panels. I'd if a 1x4 has enough hold. Idk if I could just get a longer bolt and get into the studs?? I've never hung a TV so no idea what I'm doing
It *should* burn clean enough that there is no fumes or smoke, kind of like a gas burner on your stove. The logs are decorative and don't burn
If its just studs and drywall behind there, I would cut out a hole for a recessed power/media box like the one below (assuming you're going to need to pull power/cable or HDMI and want it hidden). When you do that, you should be able to get a tape behind there and measure out where the two closest studs are then use lag screws to secure the mount in those locations. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Commercial-Electric-TV-Multimedia-Recessed-Box-5053-WH/207161878
